Wonder if the Marlies will give Ryan O'Connell a PTO now that his season is done. I don't expect an SPC or even an AHL deal, but some added depth for the Marlies/Growlers while we wait out his contract expiry wouldn't be the worst thing. He is still relatively young and had a pretty good year defensively with Ohio State.

Viktor Stalberg was like 6'3", 220 lbs and was pretty much a pure power forward type.

Holmberg is maybe 6'0" and under 200lbs, and will likely be a 30 point defensive forward in the NHL.
Honestly I always thought of Stalberg a bit more scared than a powerforward type but maybe im remembering him wrong.

If any team somehow likes him enough, I'd have him (and Rindell for that matter) as lowkey trade chips to push some deals through. Doubt either are signed.

I know we've talked about McBain here a bunch, but with apparently Minny asking for a 2nd+ for him I have no interest. He's a good enough prospect for a free wallet or a late pick, but I'm skeptical of guys who's production becomes good for the first time in their senior year. Besides Hyman, there's so few guys that go onto having a successful NHL career who didn't produce well from the get-go.

Agreed.

My offer is pretty much firm on Koster. Solid prospect with some upside and another 2 years of control. I'd risk him for McBain, but I am not paying high picks or prospects for him. Would rather just go after Meyers for free.

Eddie Wittchow ran into Woll and knocked him out of the game. Woll was just coming back from injury. Rich Clune took it upon himself to address Wittchow.

2-0 Marlies after 2. Blandisi and SDA with the goals. Blandisi has a bit of Bunting in his veins.

heck of a way to learn english ...

It's really hard to tell for me what the Leafs will do with Matt Knies. Physically he is more than ready for the NHL. I think the pace of the game, especially playoffs might be a bit too much for him TBH. But if they give him sheltered minutes, and he can provide some depth scoring, you really never know.

I still remain pretty confident we will not see a Foligno like trade this year (ie. 1st+ for a rental). We need that 1st rounder badly IMO with the recent news of Rodion Amirov's health. I think we will be looking at that secondary market for guys like Gio, Schenn, or Middleton. Unless we land a big fish with more than 1 playoff run, I just cannot see us parting with that 1st personally.

Which might also make sense why we'd try "rushing" Knies. Give him and Abruzzese ELC's at their seasons end. Give them a look on the big stage, and see if they can hack out a role. It could end up being the equivalent to adding at the TDL, without getting rid of what little picks we have remaining.

I also think Matt Knies being in the AHL next year would be great for his development should he not make the Leafs. Of course, it would not be a big deal if he went back to school, but the kid is ready for the pro game. Onward and upward IMO.

Personally, if he's not making the jump to the NHL at a near full time, I'd probably let him be in the NCAA another season where he can finish up rounding out his game.

IMO the best spot for a U21 that was one of the best U20's in the world and top of his league as a U20 is pro. The NCAA and CHL are different animals, but we wouldn't think twice about sending a comparable OHLer back for a overage year, they'd come up for the Marlies playoffs and be an AHL lock with a shot to win a spot out of camp.

Ya I am starting to lean more in this direction.

I definitely don't think another year at Minnesota is a terrible thing. Still lots of growth and development can occur at that level. I just think he is ready to play against pro competition. He sure as hell looked ready at the Olympics, so why put him back with amateurs. That's just the way I see it. There is a chance he plays to a level that see's him making an impact in the NHL starting as early as next season. Hell by the sounds of it, it might even be this season. I just see a tremendous value in having him around the pro game and even if he is a black ace, the sooner we can have the likes of Auston mentoring him the better. It seems like an obvious mentor/mentee relationship.

I was on the fence, but he's an almost PPG 19 year old freshman thats *this* dominant offensively and in transition playing top-6/top-pp for arguably the best team in the NCAA.

Its time to challenge him with bottom-6 NHL or top-6 AHL minutes. Theres honestly no debate about NCAA anymore, I'm sorry.
