Just watching the re-run of Canada vs. USA. Knies and Abruzzese look great IMO.

Knies is a complete handful. So physically engaged at all times. Always goes into battles on the walls with full intensity. Loved how he was going toe to toe with Daniel Winnik on the draw as well at the end of the 1st period. This kid is NHL ready already IMO. He was physically dominating the board battles against an NHL experienced Canada roster.

Abruzzese continues to impress me with his vision. He doesn't look out of place at all.

That line is truly buzzing almost every shift.

As painful as it is to say, Sean Ferrell looks like a player as well. I think the Habs may have found something there.

What's odd is the Knies-Beniers-Abruzzese line has been the best American line through 2 games, and I am not sure it's all that close. They play almost every shift in the offensive zone and generate a ton of quality chances. Even shifts where they start in the defensive zone, they seem to find their way back up the ice. They just haven't been able to break through in the same fashion as Ferrell - Meyers - Cates line. I am sure that will change in due time. They are clearly a handful

Rather than Ben Meyers, I'm intrigued by big Jack McBain #11 as he is rumoured to be waiting until after Aug. 15 and signing elsewhere as a UFA, possibly with his hometown Leafs .

He didn't particularly stand out today but is so big and productive with Boston College, I feel he could develop into a good 3rd line center which is certainly an area of need!

Voit had an assist today.

Kressler has been out since December with a torn UCL. He is apparently skating now so he should hopefully be able to play again before the end of the year.

Knies skating is way better than advertised when drafted.

He should still get stronger and a bit more explosive but his skating/speed/agility looks decent enough that it shouldnt hold him back from becoming a very good NHL player.

His shot could use a little work but not much to complain about.

I think he will have one more NCAA season ahead of him to work on some of those technical elements of his game.

Very excited about him long term

If you think his shot needs work then maybe you need to watch him play because his shot most definitely does not need work at all.

Knies looks intriguing and the type of player we wanted in Tyler Biggs. I think another year in the NCAA to dominate before making that next leap is ideal.

But hey.. I trust Dubas and co.

He, like Robertson (and obviously Matthews) has that unbelievable ability to shoot the puck hard and accurate with any stick placement. It's such a crazy weapon, so deceptive and something that we've seen Matthews exploited at the NHL level basically his whole career. Not to mention his shot off the drag is Matthews-esque.

Guys can always work on their shot (see Matthews every year), but the comparables at his level have nothing on him. It's ridiculous.

There's stuff that can be worked on; awkward skating stride, too many dekes where he gives away possession, sometimes a bit too shot happy, etc. His shot though? Above average NHL one right now for me.

I don't think you see the irony of your post.

People have opinions and are allowed to share them. This post is a textbook example of irony.

I don't think saying "a little work" on someone's shot is that damning.

He's a damned good prospect.

How likely is it that we sign him as soon as his season is done in college? Seems like the type of player that can come in and contribute right away for us in the NHL.
If you're talking about Abruzzese, I think it is very likely he signs an ELC after this year. As it was discussed in this thread a while back, taking Nick into his junior year carries too much risk. That would essentially walk him to UFA after that season.

He looks very ready for pro hockey IMO. I am not sure if I was not expecting much from Nick this Olympic games, or if I had this expectation that he would get physically dominated. But I have been overwhelmingly happy with his game. This kid has very good hockey sense. There have been multiple times where Nick looks to be pinched off in a corner or wall and looks like he is going to get rubbed out, only to delay just long enough for a lane to open up. All the while drawing 1 or 2 players into his direction and out of position. He may be undersized, but I haven't seen that be an issue against the bigger competition once. He anticipates contact really well, like most small players, and finds ways to circumvent his lack of size in board battles. Whether that's getting lower, or even deliberately allowing the opponent to take the puck and then subsequently stick checking them right after.

Like I said, that line has been outstanding. They more often than not dominate. To me, If Nick is not signed post Harvard season it will be a massive mistake. He needs to understand that he has a legitimate chance at being an NHL player, and that it could come sooner rather than later.

I agree. How dare people share opinions on an opinion board.

My point is you have no idea about his shot
Your just blowing smoke
