Maybe on the bottom pairing, but I doubt either become top pairing defensemen.
I am very high on Kokkonen. I see him having a similar career to Gunnersson/Hainsey. Likely somewhere in the middle. Better than Gunner, but clearly not prime Hainsey. More like the Hainsey here and in Pittsburgh. But I value defense by committee rather than 1-3 pairings. When we had a God awful 4th line, I was trying to float an idea around that the leafs should use 4 defense pairings and play them around 15 minutes each a night, and use only 10 forwards. It doesn't make any sense now, but at the time, the 4th line was that bad.

Knies/Niemela are definitely a lot closer to Robby/Amirov then I thought

I think part of that is recency bias. Amirov has only really played 3 games this year up until his recent return to the VHL on a conditioning stint. Nick Robertson has only played 2 games this year and won't be back for another month. And then it will likely take a few weeks for them to get back up to speed.

Niemela and Knies are playing a lot right now and they are playing well.

Do we know yet which prospects will be playing in the WJHC?

Hirvonen,Neimela and Knies are pretty much locks for their respective teams. I think the only other prospect with a chance is Tverberg with Canada and he is likely a long shot.
Thanks.
Robertson and Amirov are too old?

If we're counting Sandin and Liljegren as graduated

1. Niemela
2. Knies
3. Amirov
4. Robertson
These are clearly the top 4, after that it is way to hard to agree on where everyone else should be. The next group would probably be, Tverberg, Holmberg, Hirvonen, Abruzzese, and Steeves. My next grouping would basically be all of the defensemen minus Duszak, Hollowell, Loponen.

Looks like Miettinen picked up an assist last night.

Picked up one in the game before too, which is fine except for the fact that St. Cloud scored 8 goals in that game.

In general, he is not doing bad. Nobody is a PPG on SCSU except for a 25 year old guy in his fifth season, who is one of the top scorers in the NCAA right now, and #2 in points is another 25 year old guy. Miettinen should be a top line guy as a junior and the production should come with that.

SDA is nasty. Been impressed with him almost every game this season.

Great primary 2on1 assist to Seney. Such a deceptive passer.

Marlies are sloppy and undisciplined at times. Just plenty of mistakes, that shouldn't happen. Man, we need a new coach.

It just looks like nobody knows where they need to be at any time. It's night and day between the Marlies and Leafs...

i also gotta say: if you ever want to feel better about NHL refs, watch the AHL.
