Was listening to the Mirtle/Siegel podcast that came out yesterday and they had Josh Kloke on to discuss some Marlies. Here is who they discussed:

Joseph Duszak: Finally learning the pro game and how to settle down and be smart. Not always looking to make the high-risk play as in previous years. Sort of like how Liljegren developed. Still a bit of a longshot though based on his size.

Kristians Rubins: The organization, and particularly Keefe, really like him. They are getting him to really learn how to use his size and work to be more physical. Looking to model his game sort of like Muzzin. He may be rewarded with a callup if there are injuries.

Alex Steeves: The organization loves his start and loves how smart of a player he is. Looking to teach him how to develop a bottom 6 game since that is ultimately where he would end up playing. Want to give him more time to adjust to the pros, so don't think a callup is imminent any time soon.

Erik Kallgren: Apparently his name is pronounced with a "sh" sound like Kylington. Maybe that was known, but I did not know that. This was more of a personal take from Kloke than an organizational take. Said before his concussion he looked really good and was wondering if he would have had a look at playing for the Leafs rather than Woll. He also mentioned the Leafs wanted to reward Woll as he's been in the org for a while and while his stats didn't seem to warrant that, I tend to agree. Also feels that if the Leafs get their playoff spot locked and loaded early and they want to give Campbell/Mrazek rest, that they should give Kallgren a few games. Also realizes that is fairly unlikely, but should get some games in by next year.

That was really it. Was hoping to hear about SDA, Abramov and Kral, but maybe next time.

I'm highly skeptical of Duszak being anything

but Steeves and Rubins are definitely my favorite marlies forward and defenseman at the moment (not including injured Robertson of course) so that's great to hear.

Kallgren? Hopefully a goalie gamble that pays off.

I'd like to see what Steeves can do with a call-up. Personally, I like his game more than I like Anderson's right now.

I certainly hope they still allow Steeves free reign to develop his offensive game as he apparently has a lot to offer in that regard. I think they're hedging their bets by emphasizing the defensive aspect so he either A) Has a fall back position in the event his offensive game doesn't translate or B) They hope he can become a well rounded 2 way player... I'd hate to think they have him pigeon-holed already as a bottom 6 type player.

It would be amazing if they manage to correctly develop Rubins out of nowhere.

Anderson is a good soldier and really doesn't have any deficiencies though. Also wouldn't be surprised if they brought him up because they're just not afraid to lose him on waivers with Mik out. I think they see something in Steeves too, so they probably want to control his development and not throw him to the wolves and have him potentially get off what is making him successful in the NCAA/AHL.

I'd be shocked if Duszak ever becomes anything. Going to be 25 this offseason and still has no transition defense/defensive ability to speak of. Good to see he's trying to implement it into his game while continuing to be ridiculously productive, but it's such a long shot at this point and it's something he needed to have at 20. There are just way too many players that have the same type of skillset in the AHL that go on to have productive careers overseas. I know they're trying to find the next Holl, but I don't think Duszak is it.

A lot of talk about McBain as a potential college signing, but Ben Meyers would be another nice pickup to a lesser degree.

He'll be 24 next winter so close to a finished product and his upside is limited, but I see a lot of Trevor Moore in his game. Relentless, shifty skater with quick hands and an excellent two-way game. Good friends with Knies on the niners line for MIN that has driven play together all season.

Some mention of him by posters here last summer. Could be solid bottom six depth with PK ability and tenacious forechecking to add some diversity to the pool.

If he’s also a centre, sign ‘em up.

Amirov is back. Played 3 games in the VHL this week but zero points in total. Hopefully it's a short conditioning stint and he's back with Ufa ASAP as they have less than 30 games left on the schedule.

Also, for such a skilled player he has a ton of shootout gaffs:

Started the season at 6'1" 185lbs but looks noticeably bigger than last season IMO.

Great to see that he's back playing.

Between our prospect pool excelling and the on-ice product right now, everything is coming up Dubas.

Fire Greg Moore and we’ll be in terrific shape!

I don't watch the Marlies (my location) but regularly follow their progress in this thread. What's the deal with Moore?

In a word, everything. System to lines. Also has the worst post game interviews I have ever seen.
Example: you know how coaches say "we" a lot. He says "they" referring to the players as if he is separate from the team. Watch these 2 interviews
