Going to be extra exciting watching the World Juniors this year with both Cowan and Minten penciled into the top 6. Early, but kudos to those kids to make it there so far. Cowan going from being a “reach” pick to playing on line 1 for a tournament favourite team with the best prospects in the world is pretty special.

Well, you kind of expect Top 5 lottery picks to play high in the line-up.

He's not?

Nevermind.

I remember in the past a poster would list all our prospects and their season totals.
I know that is a lot of work but it was greatly appreciated by those of us who are somewhat computer illiterate
Wasn't going to make my own subjective descriptors of "prospect" haha, so here's our U25 & <100 NHL GP players in the organization

I think Cowan is going to be a seriously impactful player for the Leafs one day. His trajectory is ridiculous. Next season thinking we see:

Knies - Matthews - Nylander
Robertson - Tavares - Marner
Cowan - Minten

Cowan provides the chance to properly distribute scoring across 3 lines.
I know many focus on his end to end rushes and short handed goals. But he a natural playmaker.

I think you could put him along side Matthews, and he could provide that Marner creativity while also being more of a North/South player. Throw in Jarnkrok on the other wing for defensive purposes, and you got one solid line there.

Then Knies-Tavares-Marner has worked and should work.

That leaves you with Robertson-Minten-Nylander. Nylander has shown he can drive his own line, and here you give him a two-way C along with a winger that can keep up with him.

3 solid lines.

Noticed Voit didn't play today. Guessing he will be eased in. Though if he's going to be scratched more often than not, he'd be better off on the Growlers.

One of the major issues with Dubas is that for somebody who seemed to be able to identify and develop talent how often we traded away opportunities to do more of it

We were going for it so I understand moving picks and prospects but I felt like we moved a ton of those mid round picks for meh depth players unnecessarily

Even 3rd and 4th rounders become valuable if you can hit on them, we threw away chances to do that imo

He should have kept more picks but at the same time when you’re getting Hyman, Marchment, Moore, McMann, etc for free it eases the damage quite a bit. We’re getting significantly more value out of undrafted UFAs than we got out of 31st overall under the former scouting staff.

I don't think you can really credit him for those when he essentially moved them both for nothing.

If they weren’t in the system we would have had to replace them with a pick or other prospect in those trades. Moore’s the only one we’d really miss but he also wouldn’t have gotten middle-9 minutes here like he did in LA to develop his game.

Point is trading 4ths isn’t really a big deal if you have a staff that can get guys with ~2nd round value for free fairly regularly. We’re averaging probably close to a guy a year when you count Holl, Mikheyev, Barabanov, and others I’m sure I’m forgetting.

Are there any updates on Hirvonen? Looked back and didn't see anything, and never see any Marlies new?

What is the injury? Time line? I know he was concussed in the summer camp this summer, but then played some pre-season but only 2 games with the Marlies.

I am still wondering why Bellows isn't signed or are they seeing something we are not aware of.

I don't think he will be to be honest. He reminds of Ho-Sang. Decent numbers in AHL, but not really an NHLer
Bellows has been given plenty of opportunity in NHL and hasn't panned out. He's 25 already

I feel like with Ho-sang there was more to him...he was genuinely a guy who would bring it when he wanted to...all the tools but a massive ego and just has other things to worry about. Bellows I am not sure falls in the same category but you could be right.

I feel like there is more to it but that could be just me though.

There would be no shame to be a career AHL player.

He's earned US$2.6 by age 25. How many years working as an IT Analyst, or Accountant or Lawyer or ... is that in real life for a UGrad?

Hopefully, had a good accountant and is making good AHL$ providing a good life for him.

1 year at Boston University, maybe he's carried on his studies and has a path forward into career number 2.

At 25 there is still runway for a depth forward in the NHL, just getting shorter since he had many opportunities up until now.

The thing Bellows has going for him that Ho-Sang did not is that Bellows is big and plays physical. He could still be a useful 4th liner who brings that element while also having a good shot to chip in a few goals in that role.

I don't think there's really anything beyond that though.

Did Bellows end up signing an AHL deal with the Marlies? The only thing I remember seeing was a PTO.
