I've been saying we have our own Kaprizov and Shesterkin/Sorokin over there for a while now lol.

Woll really needs to be good this year because Aty is not far behind.

Wait who is the ‘Kaprizov’?
Also who is this guy tweeting. I see he’s verified. But verified what lol

Looking forward to going to a few Marlies games this year, especially with plenty of players to focus on this year. Really want to see what Hirvonen can do. My viewings of him really only came from the 2 years of WJC. He seemed like he was good at a lot of things but not spectacular at anything. Kind of jack of some trades, master of none. I could be way off, but that is what I saw.

Also wondering what the plan for Abruzzese is. I don't think there would be a spot for him on the Leafs, not in this current iteration anyway. But I do think he could catch on somewhere as a middle-6, 2nd PP specialist somewhere.

We have two more years of control of him contract wise. He loses Waiver eligibility next year I believe. I'm not really sure how much value he has, and we have so many bodies that making a trade isn't really of much benefit right now. For now, we just keep him, especially if McMann and/or Robertson end up with the Leafs, we'll need him on the Marlies.

Just a note, Hirvonen left yesterday's game with an injury.

He's one of the assets I probably utilize in a trade, given our lack of draft pick capital.

Just think he's too small to make it and not exactly lightning quick either.
I think he is a bottom of the roster forward on a bunch of NHL teams. Quite a useful player.

I would love his exact equivilant as a defenseman, I think he would be our 7th guy and be up with the team.

I think he might be sent down.
I think he might stay.
I think the next 6 games will help determine that.
I'd love to win the lottery, but I can't think of the correct numbers that haven't been drawn.
I think you right on all counts!

A new drinking game just dropped: take a shot every time someone posts that Minten isn't playing more than 9 games.
It's not like Minten has been lighting up the WHL and play-offs last year and is simply too good for that league. He has been one of the best stories in camp. Send him back feeling great about himself. Let him continue to develop his offensive game in a place where he isn't critiqued after every period. This isn't hate. This is simply the proper way to develop a decent (yet not top end) prospect.

It's still early days but this pick is starting to look unreal.

He can skate, lots of skill, can play in all situations both W and C, willing to fight if need be.

Our scouting department deserves alot of props for this pick and show's they really did their homework.
This kid is already becoming my favourite Leafs player! Love his all around skillset and motor/intensity he plays with

And the scouts deserve credit for showing guts in taking a guy who was not ranked that high. Opens them up to a lot of second guessing - I know I thought there seemed to be a number of better options based on available prospect rankings - but they are looking damn smart right now.

Not related to us, but Owen Sound fired their coach Greg Walters(former Leafs pick) on Monday after a 4-2-1 start. Surprising considering the record is pretty decent.
Reason I mention this here is because of the comments the GM made.

In the team’s media release, DeGray is quoted as saying “our vision for how we best maximize our current roster is not aligned and I feel it was best for the organization that we make a change”.

Asked to expand, DeGray declined to get into specifics.

“It’s a lot of different things. I can’t just sit here and say the power play sucked, or the penalty kill sucked. It’s a lot of different things that I’ve been watching over his timeframe,” DeGray said. “We talked about it in the summertime and I didn’t see the changes I was hoping for.”

DeGray said the differences between the two went beyond the Xs and Os of the game on the ice.

“It’s lots of little things. It’s hard for me to give you a specific,” he said. “To me, it’s enough is enough. It’s been an ongoing thing. A little thing here, a little thing there, so let’s just move on.”

DeGray confirmed there is no league investigation involved in the move and the firing is a team decision.

“His style of coaching, the way the team plays, it’s just not what I’m looking for. It’s hard to say in a sentence what it comes down to, like I said, I talked about it last year with him and I didn’t see the changes,” DeGray said.

When do you see a GM make such direct comments towards the coach?
