As I said, the “send him down” crew may be wrong - we’ll see. But it’s not “hate” as you claim.

Robertson with 2 goals and an assist.
Holmberg with a goal and an assist.
Tverberg with a goal and an assist.
Steeves with two assists.

That’s what we want to see out of Robertson and Holmberg especially. They’ll be with the big club at some point.

Marlies win 5-2.

Send Minten back after his 9 game trial. Call-up Holmberg as an interim. Buy time for Robertson to get a healthy 20-25 games in the AHL, then permanently call him up and reshuffle middle six.
I think the team should consider demoting Knies so he can dominate AHL competition on the 1st line.

Am I doing this right?

Not really. Knies looked good in the NHL playoffs, Minten looked good in the preseason. They're not the same

There's just something missing about his play. His skating is a bit sloppy. He falls down a lot. He doesn't protect himself enough from hard contact. I believe he could be a great penalty killer maybe some time in the AHL learning how to penalty kill against chaotic AHL power plays would be a great learning experience.

Am I doing this right?

A new drinking game just dropped: take a shot every time someone posts that Minten isn't playing more than 9 games.
An even more fun game would be to take a shot every time you seem to complain about it.

No one is saying anything negative about Minten. The majority are very excited about his future.

Are you Minten's father?

I know it is just schtick but Knies is built like a man, Minton is not.
He looks like a 19 year old.

Only the elite play a full season at this age. And i hope you are right that Minten stays. That will mean success.
I just don't think he will.

Robertson is showing so great stuff. His release on the 2nd goal was filthy. It'll be hard to keep him on the Marlies for very long.

Watched the game today, on merit he should definitely be the first guy up.

Seems Holmberg might get the edge on him, however, just because he plays C.

Though, I think he should get extended play there. Build some real momentum, so that once he's up... he's up. Let him really continue to dominate for a stretch.

Minten, after a successful pre-season, had an understandably nervous first pro start. His second game, to these eyes, was much stronger. Keefe thought so too, as Minten was used late in both the second and third periods, once in the 2nd in the Dzone after the Matthews line had been hemmed in, Minten/Knies/Jarnkrok were sent over the boards, won the face off and cleared the zone. Only one shift, but telling to see Keefe testing the youngsters. His play in the next 6 games will determine his year. if he grabs points in 3 of 6, I think he’s a lock to stick. No points, he’s given the year in junior.

Agreed. Would love the kid to stick but despite being a rookie he's still a 3rd liner and has to create some offense too. 3 points in the next 6 and some solid penalty killing and creating more turnovers on the forecheck and I could see him stick.

I blatantly stole this from the Around the League thread.. but given this IS the prospects thread, I thought it should be posted here too.

I've been saying we have our own Kaprizov and Shesterkin/Sorokin over there for a while now lol.

Woll really needs to be good this year because Aty is not far behind.
