Ya Gaudette, Abramov and Duszak really took it to their former team.

Duszak with a bit of showboating in front of the Marlies bench after the 4-1 goal. Clifford tries to jump him on the next shift...

Alluded to by the Marlies commentator (who is a silly person), and I saw mentioned elsewhere on Twitter, that Duszak apparently quit the team for the final game of 2021-22, upset about being put on the wing instead of D. He left for the KHL, but back this year on an AHL deal.

Think they suggest it was a must-win game to make the playoffs, which doesn't seem to line up when I look at the 2021-22 standings (I'm not clear how the playoffs worked then with Rochester and Syracuse playing 4 more games than everyone else?: TheAHL.com | The American Hockey League), but no Duszak in the lineup for the final Marlies game that year against Belleville.

Chances Grebyonkin makes the team next year?

I want to say like 25-35% range

It would depend on what kind of summer he has but seems like a naturally strong guy and then how he adapts to North America. If he comes over for some Marlies games, it will let us see the obvious deficiencies. I think he might need half a season in the AHL at this point, maybe just clean op positioning but what a find.

It's interesting looking through the roster. For the non-roster players, it's unlikely we are going to lost many players next year. Cowan, Hirvonen, Abruzzesse, Voit, Kressler, Minten, Tverberg, Niemela, Chadwick, Kokkonen, Villeneuve, Rifai all have contracts that don't end until next year. Then we have Ellis, Steeves, Robertson, Lajoie as RFA's, so we are in control there... though I think only Steeves and Robertson deserve extensions, if we keep them both. Gambrell and Clifford are the only two Non-Roster UFA players we have.

So it seems likely, that we will really only have 4-6 contract spots, for whomever we want to sign...

When you look at the reserve list...

It's only these four that need signing though... Webber, Miettinen, Lisowsky and Koster. I'm pretty sure they'll try and sign Webber, Koster probably not... leaving just Miettinen and Lisowsky... plus and College or Euro free agents.

It's also sounding like Grebenkin/Grebyonkin isn't coming over next year now.

I doubt Petruzzelli is back next year, since the Marlies are now using Cavallin over him, so there's another free contract spot. Chadwick and Cowan will both slide (ie. not count toward the limit of 50) if they go back to junior next year, which Chadwick definitely will. Of note is that OAs in junior do count towards that limit (see Kressler this year), so I think if Lisowsky signs, he'll at least be with the Growlers.

Duszak turtled for so long I think he grew a shell LOL

Duszak was also quite salty about never getting a chance on the Leafs unless I'm not remembering properly. Definitely something personal about the celebration, and good on Clifford for responding.

His Manager at Mettalurg claims he's playing in the KHL next year... seems to be contrary to what was said in the past, but at this point, it's hard to say what he's doing.

Regardless of what the story is, I thoroughly enjoyed this.

If we finish 22nd for the draft Maybe trade back with detroit Montreal or Calgary for there late 1st rd pk + a late 2nd rd pk.

Maybe have a luck to draft 2
Elich
Ej Emery
Skahan
Fischer
Or maybe the guy we had rated at 12 is there at 22. Trading back only works if you are very confidant there isn't a lot of difference between where you are and where you are moving to. I would have moved down for sure the year they took Amirov. The year they traded down for Dermott there wasn't a bunch of big stars taken between those picks and the big misses like Aho and Hintz went after Dermott so there maybe was a massive plateau to choose from. The move down was fine, they just didn't grab the right guy. And then continued to miss with Cirelli, Borgen, Garland, Terry, Kaprizov and Matt Roy with the rest of their picks. I am hoping for the best available at a position they normally trade to fill. Trade down just means they couldn't figure out who he was.

I'm hoping he said after the playoffs to get them to back off...
I have no idea about the guy but I think this is standard club propaganda. Maybe they stay or maybe they all tell the club they are on the way out.

I would not expect honesty from anyone wrt KHL players plans.

Let's be honest here, it isn't a free country there.

Grebyonkin said he wants 50 million rubles to stay with Magnitogorsk next year. Factoring taxes into the equation, that's the rough equivalent of a $1 million contract in the NHL.

We'll see if MM agrees to it.

I would imagine what the Leafs have planned for him will factor into his decision as well. He probably won't want to come over if he will be stashed with the Marlies all year. Most Russians preference goes along the lines of NHL>KHL>>>>>AHL.

I believe he's a partial restricted free agent... meaning any KHL team can offer him a contract, but Magnitka has the right to match. This is how SKA gobbled up Gritsyuk from Avangard (or New Jersey) last season.
But this can't be done until his current contract expires on April 30. So I think he's waiting till then to keep all options open.

And correct, it makes no financial sense for a player of Grebyonkin's level to go to North America if he's gonna be banished to the AHL..... or at least not until he's first set himself up financially in the KHL.

Yeah, he'd be stuck with what, 93k with signing bonus factored in for the Marlies?

I wonder if we could do a loan back deal in the contract?

Sign the ELC, come to training camp, see where he's at, maybe spend a bit of time in the minors, if we get like 10-15 games in and he's not really there for a call up consideration, let him go back to Russia and then fully bring him over the following year?

How many 'days' does it take to get $500K IN NHL?

From my understanding it is 'days' on roster, not games played.
