Would be nice if he caught on more in the mainstream. Basically mainstream media (and then by extension fans) hear about Cowan and Minten, but "Minten is just meh anyway" and then "Oh ya there's that Topi guy nerd twitter loves but he's nothing".

I'm not one of those people who thinks our 13th ranked guy is some hidden gem where if he can develop one more strength, he would be a steal. But on the other end of the spectrum, it's like "Oh we have Cowan and then nothing." I think it's somewhere in between, closer to the nothing than the 13th ranked guy being a gem, bit there is still more to this pool than "Cowan and a meh Minten".

I’m not giving up on either of those guys.

I always kinda hope the team will keep a couple roster spots earmarked for kids every year, and let them audition when there’s some depth of potentially useful guys. Rotate them in and out, see who sticks.

I wonder if Calgary would give up a late pick for Abrusezze, there was some smoke there earlier in the season in the Zadorov talks
 
I have to admit that I hate all of this "untouchable" talk around prospects. I don't think there is a single guy in our system that has that Matthews level "untouchable" talent. Short of that quality player, everyone should be available if they'll return the right assets, that make sense towards building a Cup Contender.

Untouchable maybe 5 players in the league?

Leafs don't have Connor or Makar.

Some prospects value is greater than NHLers.

Stand pat .trading Cowan isn't going to get u Crosby lo
The leafs are not winning a cup with out major upgrades

I assume the label is used this deadline more as an indicator of quick limits and the market they’re shopping in, rather than in the truest sense of the word.

I’m sure there’s a million unlikely hypotheticals where those guys would be very touchable, but that aren’t liable to be on the table.

He's going to be a cheap bottom six C for us, which is useful given we don't have any other C's. He's not untouchable, but it would have to be a good deal for us.

Has some skill only getting better

1st or 2nd star 5 times since coming back from the WJC's

If there are, I think we know who the leafs will pick

Charlie Elick 6'3 200 pound right shot defensemen. Ranked 28th on Bobs list.
Jesse Pulkkinen 6'6 205 left shot overage defensemen. Ranked 33rd.
EJ Emery is another good potential option.

Domink Badinka though is probably my favourite target....though I can see him get helium leading to the draft and ending up gone by our turn.
