For the guys thinking we could get Cowen in a trade back, you have to consider other teams and the copious amounts of draft picks they have. Some teams have 9-12 picks and up to 3 (2nd rounders). Leafs can never compete with that on draft day so are forced to take their man early or not get him at all. Many teams can take flyers on players before the leafs get another pick out of the 1st round. I've always hated this issue with the leafs. They throw draft picks away to easily.

Teams reach all the time. Look at Chinakhov with the jackets. The kid was rated for like the 4th round and they took him in the 1st. Or Boston with Senyshen, Sens with Boucher etc.

Team lists are way different than the ones available to us. If you see something in a player and want to make sure you get him, you take him when you can.

Cowan where we picked him, I was fine with.

I believe it was Friedman or someone else that touched on it and said he wasn't actually going to be on the board much longer after that.

We've had that a few times now. When we picked Knies, Dubas was considering trading back and Friedman actually said 100% Pittsburgh was going to be selecting Knies if he was there.

I'm down for Elick even though the offense isn't really there. A big RD who loves to hit and can skate like the wind. We passed on a guy like that back in 2015 in favor of a more offensive defenseman.

What do you guys think of Jett Luchanko? I wouldn't be unhappy with him as the pick, especially if you think he can stay down the middle. The guy killed it in on-ice testing at the Top Prospects game and plays with both compete and skill.

Any relation between our William Villeneueve and this Nathan kid?
