Basically, the Jets' top 6 D going into the season has:
1 outstanding offensive D (Morrissey)
3 good defensive D, with little offense (Dillon, Samberg, DeMelo)
1 mediocre D overall (Schmidt)
1 poor defensive, so-so offensive D (Pionk)
If they go with that group, I really don't see the 3 defensive D adding offense, so they'll be one-dimensional.
Schmidt might tread water as an okay 3rd pair D.
Morrissey could shore up his D, or get less tough competition.
Pionk needs to make a big improvement defensively, or he'll continue to drag the D down.
But overall, at best it's a passable D, with some defensive strengths. Samberg can probably anchor a 2nd pair defensively.
