Lets be real here, if hes getting out of a scoring slump, hes doing it on the RW and not LW.

Why the **** do you have Callahan on the RW between the two? I do not understand this. Whats he gonna do, block shots into the net?

Honest question: Have you watched a single game this season?

It's doubtful with a painfully stupid post like that.

He just had a great opportunity to get out of his scoring slump by being given a penalty shot and he failed. RW or LW had nothing to do with that.

I don't understand why this man does not shoot the puck on his penalty shots/shootout attempts. He has one of the most lethal shots in the NHL, can't stick handle for his life, yet always comes in and tries to deke the goalie silly. Just SHOOT the puck!

he doesn't have the same shot he had 4-5 years ago. Albeit.....better chance with his new weaker shot than his God Awful Dekes.

I have said it all along for the last 3 years....its time to move on. Trade this useless scrub fora bucket of Pucks. Srsly.....I am over trying to even get anything in return. Just want him out of here. Gone.......ship him out!!!

Sorry but if you can only have one guy playing RW and the other playing LW Callahan should be the one playing out of position. His skill set and game lend itself better to being able to play well in all positions as opposed to Gaborik who should be given the best chance to use his shot. Being on the left side really hinders his ability to cut in and shoot. Callahan's game is more hard work, checking and getting to the net which are all things that won't take as big of a hit switching sides.

Additionally regarding the penalty shot obviously it was a poor attempt but do you realize the goal percentage in shootouts over the past two years is only 34.6%? (using shootout as a proxy for penalty shot since its essentially the same but a more relevant same size - 1554 samples). Knowing Gaborik isn't good at shootouts in the first place combined with the overall goal % being so low it would be irrational to expect him to score in a given attempt.

Gaborik is a waste to this team......a useless part that makes 7.5 Million. He's the Arod of the Rangers....once a star that never performed come Playoff time, now just washed up.

No way to Sugarcoat it......he's absolute deadweight. RW, LW, any F'ing Wing.....doesn't matter:sarcasm:

Oh, excuse me, 8 goals from Callahan. Get the ****ing Rocket Richard out.

Youre kidding yourself if you think hes scoring more from the RW than Gaborik is, and if you think Gaborik is snapping out of a slump on the LW youre delusional.

This is why I hate New York fanbases. Most impatient and bi-polar ****ers out there and not willing to stick with a guy through in a slump. I can only imagine the roster turnover if this board was GM.

Was he washed up in 2010-11, too?

240 games vs. 25 is the difference between washed up and a star?

Didnt know this board was full of comedians.

First off, until Gaborik shows a CONSISTENT EFFORT, night in and night out, he doesn't deserve to be slotted ahead of our captain. I don't care how bad of a slump he's in need of breaking out of, when you DISAPPEAR for games at a time, you don't get put where you want out there.

Secondly, he's not scoring wherever the **** he plays, let's be honest. 2 breakaways in a big game, no goals tonight. RW, LW, doesn't matter pal. You got to bury them, especially when you're considered our 1B scoring option making 7.5 mil.

....a little painful watching Gabby. A guy who's fighting it this hard...it would be nice to see him score.

One year older and a major shoulder injury later could be the difference.

Just admit youre biased and dont give a **** either way. Thats all you need to say.

If you want Gaborik to succeed, put him in a position to do so, otherwise, youre just adding to the problem. Taking him off his wing and getting mad over it is idiotic, especially over Ryan ****ing Callahan.

If hes going to work through his scoring issues, you need to put him on the RW. That simple.

Might as well put him in ****ing goal.

Ryan "****ing" Callahan has showed he has better hands night in and night out this season, so go ahead, mock our captain who brings 110% every night, something that can't be said for #10.

And if he so badly needs to be played at RW to be even called noticeable, it's all the more true that he's overpaid and needs to move.

.....

I HATE HIM. ship him out already!! in all seriousness he needs to go, however this is the first game in a long while where he has actually looked like an offensive threat so far. he'll be back again in 12-14 games like clockwork.

Enjoy your New York grinders then.

I sat through enough years of hard work, high blood pressure and bubble teams. Eventually you need talent to supplant that. Gaborik's a 3x 40 goal scorer. Excuse me if I side with an elite scoring forward over Jesus Callahan.

lol....this isn't a rough patch or "slump". This is a player that once had blazing speed and a lethal shot to back the opposing D --------> that has now Deteriorated (lost his speed, his shot is not what it was, say what you want, perhaps the torn labrum, etc) into a player that scores pretty much garbage goals or Spoonfed Gimmes.

Think about this.....the ONLY LONE goal he has in the last 5+ weeks is the lone Islander Goal where it was a 4-on 3 PP. LOL

This Guy is done...he has been even when he scored 41 last year, I've said I'd trade him for a bucket of Islander pucks:nod:

He did nothing in the Playoffs (OT vs WA was a spoonfed gimme)

And now he has ZERO compete LEVEL.......NONE

Sorry......but you sound like the blind leading the blind. I prefer to call it how I see it. Gaborik needs to go. Period:p:

Hey, my "grinder" just scored tonight. How's your guy doing tonight? Oh, 2 breakaways and a penalty shot and no goals? Oh, okay. Keep siding with him. I'll stick with Cally.

Holy Blind Homerism if I ever saw........

Move over Stamkos, hes on his way to 40.

If you fellas think Callahan is more important to this team offensively than Gaborik is, then I got a bridge in Brooklyn id like to sell you.

1) The Rangers don't have to finish in the top-3 to compete for the Cup

2) It's a shame that you have given up already this early in the season.

No, I wouldn't do it. Losing Prust, Feds, Dubi and Anisimov already showed what can happen when you lose a really solid bottom 6. We have a good two lines now and I wouldn't trade Gaborik to get more grinders. If we could get more solid bottom 6 guys without losing Gaborik, fine. Nash is great and all, but he can't carry this team all by himself. He needs Gaborik, Richards and bottom 6 to perform on their right level. And with Nash, you would think Gaborik didn't have that much pressure for scoring by himself.

He has that pressure with Nash, w/o Nash whatever because we don't have a plethora of talent and our depth has been severely compromised since last year. If you move Gaborik, it doesn't mean you'll end up with grinders with no talent in return. Gaborik would be better off in a situation like Pittsburgh(only for arguments sake) because he would be the 4th wheel at best over there and we would benefit as well assuming we could get good pieces in exchange for him.
Food for thought!

Don't elite scoring forwards get points in more than 8-9 games out of 20+?

I'll take our "Grinder" and Nash......they're the only ones who score or do anything anways.....
