let me get this straight, you want Gaborik blocking a shot? are we trying to get him hurt?

I can see it now. Then he gets hurt blocking a shot and they cry hes soft.

Cant win.

Honestly, if they would rather have a team full of Ryan Callahans thats fine, but enjoy being a bubble team. I dont care how much heart and soul and jam a team has. You need talent and you need to cater to that talent. Rather watch a team like the Blackhawks if that happened. Hed flourish there. A TALENTED team and more suitable system. Shame he wont fit in the cap there.

I like talent over grinding. Anyday. As a Ranger fan, that doesnt mesh. Watching this team scrape out wins the last several years wears on you.

coming off shoulder surgery
playing his off side when Nash was a LW pretty much his whole career
playing with Brian Boyle
playing with JT Miller

Yeah, almost anyone would suck.

Stop making excuses for the guy. For what he's making, he should be creating his own offense like he was doing a few years ago. Stop being ridiculous with the surgery card, that happened a LONG time ago.

I know he's playing with Brian Boyle, but...

did Erik Christensen or Vinny Prospal make some glorious passes to him in 2010? No. He created offense back then. And if he can only score when players give him a free tap-in, then a trade is definitely looming. Won't be surprised if he's dealt at the draft.

That happened in the off-season. How is that a LONG time ago. Regardless, he looks lost on the LW.

Put him back on the RW and watch him go.

I generally support Torts but this is his dumbest ****ing move.

a free tap in? You mean someone who can actually give him a pass?

Gaborik is best when he has someone feeding him the puck. Last year he scored many goals playing with Richards and Stepan/AA (Gas line). Honestly, alot of you guys are like Torts. DO THIS MY WAY.. The hell with coaching a team/player to their strengths. Do this my way or ride the bench. You coach to your players strengths.

so he has to play 1 on 5?

He has to at least not KILL OFFENSE out there. It's painful watching his linemates work hard and cycle the puck, only for a Gaborik to get it, and get muscled off of it, or just completely turn it over for no reason and with no pressure on him.

But hey, if you want to believe that he has looked like a 7.5 million dollar man out there this season, then go ahead.

Yes, he's playing LW, but that doesn't mean that he should become infinitely weaker.

Right, on your unnatural position, there is no leeway granted for adjusting, and he should be scoring 50 instead of 40. Brilliant.

Gaborik played better than Nash and Richards tonight, which isnt saying much collectively, but thats what I saw. He was more engaged on the puck and making more plays than they were.

****, he was even going one-on-one with guys using his speed and WINNING.

1 game. Go Gabby!

Where did I saw that there's no leeway? I said that he should still be hard to play against, even if he's playing LW. I don't expect his shots to be that good playing LW. I expect his effort level to still be high. But by all means, keep putting words in my mouth.

and become the NY blue jackets...

Remember the New York Gaborik's from 2009-10, when it was Gaborik + Lundqvist + grinders?

The 2013-14 version can be the New York Nash's with Nash + Lundqvist.

playing lw or rw shouldn't matter.. your a professional playing at the highest level.. excuses aren't valid... dig deep and put on the hard hat and work boots..

I understand your point, but I have to disagree on some level. It is hard to adjust to your off side, doesn't matter if you're pro or not. What comes to skating and passing, adjustable. Shooting? Harder. It does have an affect. How much? Very debatable on our end.

He's not playing in his level, granted. But very few people on our team are.

If your biggest problem is him looking soft and him guy who makes it look like he floats and drifts.. I have bad news for you.

Highlight of the game for Gaborik was a pass on the PP.... Sigh....

- it's Tort's fault
- he's not on the right side of the ice
- his shoulder isn't trustworthy even after the long break during the lockout
- Rangers play the wrong way
- his linemates are not good enough for him to create offense

Anymore excuses for this guy? He has one job and that's to create offense and produce scoring chances. He's not asked to be a defensive specialist or kill penalties. He gets a free pass for his average defensive play and below average board work and he's a top-paid forward in this league because of his skillset. Where is the passion/intensity/drive in his game? Nash is drawing the top defensive match-ups on the road. It's not like Gaborik is being isolated and shut-down by stellar defensive play. Like I've been suggesting, the problem is between his ears.

And if somebody created a Brad Richards thread I'll make similar complaints about his play as well.

This conversation is nothing more than an annoying endless circle. No one is gonna agree with the opposing side on anything

Well, if someone told me at the start of the "season" that Gaborik would be playing on the LW with Boyle and Miller coming off shoulder surgery, I dont think id be too optimistic in expecting a 40 goal pace.

Do I think that this system sucks? Absolutely. But Gaborik has shown that he can be a MAJOR contributor in this system, and has shown lots of effort in seasons past. He is just tentative and scared right now. Weak on the Puck. That's what I'm upset with.

I don't think anyone expects Gaborik to be barreling through players like Nash or blocking shots like Callahan every game.

I want to see Gabby move his feet more, play with some urgency, and try his best to put himself in a position to get open so he can snipe one. It's really not asking a lot, and these are things that he can do regardless of whether he plays LW or RW.

Which is why im saying shoulder issues are a possibility. Whenever he was injured before, he was just as tentative and disengaged. I see no reason why its any different now. Playing on the other wing exacerbates it since hes a natural RWer.
