Marian Gaborik was brought here to score goals, first and foremost.

Honest efforts, blah blah blah. The guy isnt going to knock skulls and block shots. Hes been here 4 years now, when will it sink in?


I can only imagine in 09-10 and 11-12 what the naysayers were thinking - "he scored 40..... but he needs to block shots and hit more!"

Do people really think that Gaborik looks the same this year as he did in his 40 goal seasons? Am I missing something? Honest question.

FWIW, I think he looks pretty good tonight.

Another lackluster effort from Gaborik tonight, there's a reason why Torts benched him early in the 3rd in favor of Haley (not sure why Haley and not someone else though).

Gabby also could've prevented the 3rd goal if he showed some effort and at least tried to block the shot from the point. I have his jersey, it's just tough to watch him play sometimes

really nice to see gaborik put in the minimal amount of effort when the games already out of hand to save face. let him dog it in the ****ing press box on thursday, just dont announce hes out of the lineup swap him with bickel right before the game and NOBODY will know.

Gabby did the whole disappearing act thing during his 40-goal seasons as well, but I can't recall him putting in such a halfhearted effort as often as he has this season.

He usually has a few games a year where he needs to be benched or yelled at ("are you gonna stop on one tonight?"). But this season, it seems like he's being benched almost every other game. He barely utilizes his speed anymore, it looks like he's mailing it in on some shifts.

This is by far Gaborik's worst season as a NYR. doesn't skate anymore, plays on the perimeter...useless.

I think Gaborik could benefit from a change of scenery this offseason. However, for a team incapable of scoring consistently, you can't deal him now.

I thought he looked good in the first period. More engaged in the game. I think all of the penalties in the 2nd ****ed with all of the offensive players. Not an excuse to not show up in the third, though. Brian Boyle or not.

And for the record, I thought he had a good game and looked engaged.

He wasnt on the ice for a large stretch at the end of the second because we'd rather take penalty after penalty instead.

Nash and Richards werent on for a long time either.

I want him to show some ****ing effort to help us win a game Lundsanity. Maybe not do a Callahan dive to block a shot, but do more than standing up like he's got a stick down his back and just using his blade.
