I think Nosek is fine... as long as there isnt another slow guy on the line

Nosek is 6'2. Good details. 2nd effort. Good at FOs. There is value

Nosek sturdiness helps the 4th line. Add Lazar and Mclaughlin. With Blidh as the extra

This is where I'm at
If Blidh's an extra I see him playing somewhere else next year.
Guys playing great hockey. Love for him to play all season in a 4th line roll. To give his spot to a guy who's played one game is a bit premature.

MM one/first game is far more advanced than Blidhs first year in the league.... so its exciting to see whats more to come

Im a big Blidh fan. ..But I would slot MM over Blidh on the 4th line.

You are right. In this scenerio... there is a good chance Blidh walks

If there were a checklist for how to go about your first NHL opportunity in the most professional manner, Marc McLaughlin crossed off as many items as he could.
He got to Bruins practices early. He left late. In between, he practiced hard — so hard that that was the most accurate way coach Bruce Cassidy could describe his game.
It was instantly evident to Brad Marchand and everyone else in the locker room that McLaughlin had pro habits.
“He’s a good kid,” Marchand said. “He does all the right things. He works hard. He kind of stays in his lane, but very personable when you talk to him.

“He does the things that you want to see from a kid coming from his situation. He’s always working hard on the ice, working in the gym after practice, he’s there early all the time. So you know he’s a pro. He’s already dialed in, so he’s going to fit in well here.”

“He’s been working hard, doing everything, very professional in practice, shooting the puck hard,” said Cassidy.

McLaughlin came through on his end, scoring his first career goal in his first career game.

He leaned on the habits he’s built from the time he was a young player in the USHL under Cedar Rapids coach Mark Carlson to Boston College with Jerry York. At the NHL level, the details translate.

“I feel like that’s part of my game,” McLaughlin said. “I value the details in the game. I feel like that started when I was younger and has just grown with good coaching.

“So I think coming in, that was already kind of established for me, and then I’ve just been trying to pick up on all the leaders in the room that are true professionals and trying to learn from them as much as I can.”

I wasn’t expecting much and was pleasantly surprised. Kid‘s got a motor and good smarts. He looked... polished defensively.

Very vet like 1st game

Lost in the excitement... is he eligible or ineligible to play in the playoffs? 🤔

He could come in next year as a 4th-liner, but let's not be too quick to toss off the 4th-liners who are already playing well there - Lazar for instance. We tend to think they're interchangeable cheap contracts, but we found out after Acciari left that it's not always so. Our 4th line just wasn't as much of a factor post-Noel.

I thought he was excellent. Came out right away comfortable, being physical, and always being in the right place. He kept his legs moving, and made tons of very intelligent small little plays. Never was a liability. Made tons of nice plays, and scored when he had the chance. I personally love it and I want him on the 4th line ASAP with considerations for 3rd line duty down the road, all of this obviously depending on how he continues to play.

Great first impression, but that is not uncommon. Remember Ryan Donato's first game? Frank Vatrano? Anders Bjork? One could say their best game in a Bruins uniform was their first game.

What I like about McLaughlin is the high floor. Big kid, seems to have burst and a natural compete and a heavy shot. Hockey sense will determine if he is a 4th line/AHL tweener or a highly effective third liner.

I'm going excited to see what this guy brings. Could be good depth for the playoffs.
I've never seen him play, but reading about him, I suspect you'll be impressed. There's an article in the athletic about his career and about the Bruins habit of signing undrafted collegiate players and finding gold.

By the way, I just signed up with the athletic, for 6 months trial of $1 a month. It's like 7:50 or something after that, but give it a try. It's Superior in many ways to what you'll find out there. No, I don't work for them. Or for Fluto.

$1 is even too much for that rag

I hope McLaughlin knows the positive impression he made on the fans in his first game.

Of course it’s only one game and all of that and I’m certainly not counting chickens. The thing that really stuck out for me though was that the NHL game didn’t appear as though it was too fast for him. Always part of the play and never catching up to it. All three zones, forecheck, on the rush… Didn’t matter he was right with it, making good, quick decisions.

That’s not adrenaline in a first game. That’s something that can only either be inherent, or gained through experience. Which means for McLaughlin, it’s innate. That’s really impressive.

I agree. If you didn't know he was a rookie in his first pro game (let alone NHL game) you probably wouldn't have guessed it. He looked like an NHL player from his first shift.

envisioning Bruin fans entering TD with McMuffin`s tonight in anticipation of a post goal crowd reaction

Hey fans, totally irrelevant but was wondering, with the TD being sold out game in and out, how do the B`s go about being able to accommodate up to 50 family and friends for the kid as has been reported? Do they hold back tickets?

well said, I mentioned in an earlier post, I tried to focus on him as much as possible sitting at home and being at the mercy of the Broadcast, his positioning was very good, seemed to be right where he needed to be. His skating doesn`t look strong but yet, there he is, not late to a puck and on that goal, to have the recognition to immediately not just get on your horse but race to get on Freddy`s left, open up to give him a target to pass to then unload that shot? Very nice

One NHL game vs the Devils doesn`t make a career but what a great start to it

My take as well

He’s had years of structure and Is mature and experienced at high end hockey

The NHL speed is a different animal but he seems to fit in seemlessly unless it was the adrenaline gear that kicked in

Bruins are verifiably most successful NHL team with no one even within 500 games of icing college FA including Torey Krug. Kevan Miller was a solid pro and both Vatrano and Acciari scored 20 goals in a season.

I can see Bruce’s comp to Acciari in college s bit with the leadership and 200 foot game with attention to defense but I think McLaughlin Is more slight and speedy - for one game he looked like Dave Christian

No I am not saying he will become him - he skated well and was around puck & picked up man, and same size as Dave
