The PC's under MB have become an epic joke guys.....rinse and repeat.
Glad to hear that Dvorak is in town already!! His comments will be more welcomed than MB's drivel....
One thing to note here, MB loves to talk about build through the draft....looks like he has 4 players in our lineup he has drafted.....he is entering his 10th season....he should probably stop saying this nonsense about the draft...

I'm out. That's the last straw for me. 3 year extension after forfeiting a #3 overall pick. What a joke of an organization. Drafted a sex offender, lose 2 centers and put our franchise player on an expansion list to protect Jake "Choke City" Allen...

Congrats Geoff, you've finally managed to make this team as awful as your beer
Good bye

MB does deserve credit, he identified a strategy of building a big boy hockey team tailored for North Division opponents vs say ballerina tutu hockey of Leafs.
Yes, some truth in that.............although we also were one shot away from being eliminated twice by the leafs, so that theory is a little flawed.
The team got galvanized by the speech by Price, after being down 3-1 and he said he believed in the group, he knew they could score goals, and they did, get it done.....thank goodness.

Isn’t that the case almost every playoffs, Bruins 2011 game 7 PT, Caps with a fluke OT goal that went off Eller’s ass vs CBJ.. How about Habs down 2-0 to Nords in 1993?

Teams don’t win the Cup or even make it to the finals with some amount of puck luck

MB doesn't deserve any credit for that though, the team finished 18th overall, and only won 24 out of 56 games,

Anybody who knows anything about hockey knows that is not a playoff team,

The last two playoff appearances should be credited to COVID not MB

I dont agree. Clearly it was a playoff team considering they made it to the cup finals, outplaying their opponents in nearly every one of their victories, and even a handful of games that they lost.

I never in a million years thought I'd be the one defending MB in an argument, but I have to call a spade a spade. He deserves credit for what the team accomplished.

I dont have strong opinions either way, but Bergevin built a SCF team and played the Kotkaniemi situation quite masterfully, so I can't particularly say I'm mad at a potential extension. I like the direction this team has been going over the past few seasons.

Some are just blinded by hate . I was as critical as any on some mb moves and I compliment the ones I feel are good .
Lately he made tough choices that are commendable .
He learned from his mistakes a lot.

Oh yeah he sure learned, playing hardball in negociations again and ending up losing the player. Great learner.

Some are blinded by their love.

Look everyone wanted KK to become a Barkov... but he really isn’t that good a player

As McGuire said towards end of last season, if KK hasn’t taken the next step by Xmas 2021, have to question the pick - Habs obviously believed KK was incapable of doing so in 3-4 months

In a normal year, this is not a SCF team. In a normal year, they get bounced in the first round by Tampa, if they make the playoffs at all.

If this comes to pass, i'll join you. I cannot to this day understand how he even lasted this long, let alone be extended to make his tenure potentially 12/13 years long.

Unbelievable...

I do agree it's not a SCF team, but many teams managed to reach SCF without being a SCF team.

In normal year, canadiens would've not met the lightnings as they didn't finished first of their division

They still managed winning against 3 teams.

But he's definitely going to be blamed if he signs a player to a bloated contract and caves in to every RFA for fear of an offer sheet.

Seems like a lose/lose situation with some of you.

Two of which were very flawed.

Can't remember a 2nd round opponent that was as weak as Winnipeg. Unsurprisingly, they were 20th in the league the season before, in the normal format.

I dont even know if we can safely say that. They beat Toronto and Vegas, both teams which were better than Tampa last year. Either way, the way he built the team definitely came together nicely in the playoffs.

IMO last season was big boy hockey division, size won’t be as much of a factor w return to regular division with teams that’s are more speed & skill oriented

I also fully expect Weber back by game 1 of the playoffs
would've still liked to see a bigger winger in there with drouin and caufield around for a full year

Agreed - but regular season & playoffs are two different games, so there’s always the deadline to add that size element as appropriate
