Yeah people kinda slept on how good Tampa is when fully healthy. Last year kinda deluded people i think.

Even with that skeleton of a roster they still managed to crawl into the playoffs and were a tough out.

What's even worse is they still have a solid prospect pool, led by Mead, Bradley, and Manzardo. They'll never go away.

In other news, Wacha pitching a gem with 10 Ks through 6 and a 17% SwStr. Who is this guy and what did he do with the real Wacha?!?

Best development system/pipeline in NA pro sports and i don't think it's particularly close.

My favorite is the ritual where people lose their minds when the Rays trade one of their star pitchers (Snell the most recent example), only for the Rays to manifest a brand new top of the rotation arm out of what feels like thin air. And then the guy they traded is revealed to be incredibly mid.

It’s the middle prospects like Basabe that always scare me

Really good first outing for Zulu. Hope they continue to stretch him out. He could easily be a pen option now but he's got real upside as a good starter

I wonder if we could piggy back Zulu and Tiederman later in the year when they get called up. Come playoffs they could slot into the bullpen.

No matter who you are facing, winning 9 games is an incredible feat but the Rays have such an easy schedule to start the season:

Of their first 32 games, 19 are against practically the last place teams of their division in 2022; Detroit, Nationals, Boston, Oakland, Reds and Pirates.

Then 7 against the .500 Chicago White Sox.

6 vs Toronto and Houston.

First 14 games of the season were/are; Tigers, Nats, A’s and Red Sox.

The Jays have played 10 games. All on the road. Given up 9 or more runs in 5 of them. Their catching tandem is 2nd worst in baseball. Belt hasn’t struck out in 15 of 25 plate appearances. Springer’s OPS is below .630. Espinal’s wRC+ is -52. Berrios and Bassit’s ERA is above 10. Kikuchi’s is almost 7. Romano has blown a save.

It’s crazy we’re still 6-4 despite all that
