He’s our 6th ranked guy? I assumed he’d be 3rd after Ricky/Orelvis

Depends on who's ranking them. Some have placed Barger 2nd (FanGraphs), some have placed Orelvis 2nd (Keith Law I believe), and others sort of have a combo of Zulueta/Barriera/Toman/Orelvis with Barger in at 6. The only real consensus is that Tiedemann is the obvious #1 in the system.

It will be interesting to see how they do. I liked Teo but the Jays needed to fix their outfield problems. They couldn't have the same outfield again. I was very glad they didn't extend him. He's a player that won't age well I think.

Ray had an awful game too. His FB velo was down.

I liked Teo too but I think the whole throwng peanuts thing got old - that and he's an average fielder who was going into his last year here

Just in case anyone is worried about the hitting…the approach is there, the results will come

We have our first pitch clock ejection of the season! To nobody's surprise it belongs to Manny Machado.

Apparently he tried to call time right at 8 seconds when his readiness window expired, the ump wasn't having any of it, and he got a strike applied to what was already a full count. So he was out via the K and he started arguing which earned him the boot.

Reminder that Machado already got dinged for clock violations in spring training and sort of half-jokingly mused that he'd "be down 0-1 a lot this year" because he needs his excessive gear-fiddling routine.

Oooh 1-3, cancel the season! Did you know it was very easy to find a 1-3 stretch for the Astros last year? They had one right in April. Also, they lost 5 in a row also in April. They won 105 games on the season. Have patience, guys

The Budweiser ad after a home run might be more infuriating then the starting pitching early in the season. Yeah sure just take up half my screen with an ad right after the home run. Add in a lame catchphrase.
As dumb as it is, the banner doesn't really bother me that much other than the size. The fact that Buck and Dan have to work a plug into their HR call is brutal, though.

With Jose Berrios, I am not sure how a guy just forgets how to pitch all of a sudden. He is consistent for years, then suddenly he starts to get rocked. I don’t get it. Like Joe Siddall said, the batters seem awfully comfortable in there against him. Pete Walker, Jeff Ware, Pat Hentgen just have to get their heads together and figure it out with Berrios. We need him.

Bassitt got rocked because he's throwing everything over the plate (at lower velocity).

Berrios actually threw some good pitches but he needs swing and miss (I would have Jano catching him for now to see if it makes a difference).

I was happy with the swing-and-miss from Berrios in that start - he had 11 of them, which is pretty solid. I'm mostly concerned about the consistency, not even just start to start, but within a game. He'll miss over the middle of the plate and get clobbered a bunch, then spend two innings making batters look foolish, then leave a bunch over the plate again. It's really frustrating.

Yeah Berrios actually showed good swing and miss, but he still left plenty of pitches over the plate. Those mistakes were smacked around (94mph EV, 61% hard hits) too.

I'd say KC's offence is bad but they have the highest EV of any team so far and have been getting babip'd. Idk, could've been a fluky start and the babip luck switched sides on him.

Zulueta was supposed to start yesterday. That and today got rained out. Are the rosters out for the other 3 teams yet? NH and Dunedin start tomorrow and while their websites have rosters I'm not sure if it just hasn't been updated from last year. Barriera not listed on Dunedin's as of yet

Just saw the C's roster was released. Includes Doughty, Macko, Santos, Gabby Martinez, Kasevich, Dasan Brown, De Jesus, Machado, Nunez

I probably should have checked again before posting. I had checked earlier today. No Barriera in Dunedin is slightly disappointing, but he's a half year younger now than Ricky was last year.

Pinto back in Dunedin is interesting. He was good enough last year to earn a promotion to Vancouver I would have thought

Interesting that Adrian Hernandez found his way to back to New Hampshire after an erratic time in Buffalo last year. Pinto, Williams, Toman, and Beltre all intrigue me. It's gonna be fun following that Dunedin infield all summer.

Innnnnnteresting. An aspect of this that might go unnoticed is that Luplow is a plus defender at 1B, if Vlad gets hurt you could set up a Belt/Luplow platoon and still get decent production out of that spot provided Luplow rebounds.
