I was talking more just the bat.

That said, he's making a ton of errors in the field and I was sort of under the assumption he'd eventually be moving to the OF, although I'm not going to claim to be anything resembling an expert on his defense.
I have more so heard that his future might be at 3B I haven't seen many people say he doesn't have a future in the infield at all.

He's probably the guy they hope replaces Chapman if that's the case.

MLB.com has him with an ETA of 2024 which i find a bit hard to believe given he's so young and is definitely still has a lot to learn but the game moves quick so who knows?

The way people around here framed Martinez i was assuming 2025 at the earliest.

Opening day 2024 seems unlikely, but if he kept mashing and did it in AAA too with Chapman a FA you never know. Organically I feel like late 2024 is reasonable.

Yeah, 2024 isn't a stretch at all... I don't think it would be unreasonable to expect a normal prospect in his position (absolutely mashing AA) to get at least a cup of coffee by the end of the year. I usually view it as: currently playing in AA, mid-season promotion to AAA, late season call-up if he keeps performing.

But given the ups and downs of the last couple years, I think being patient and thinking about mid-2024 is smart. Give him at least another month or two at AA, then let him play out the rest of the year in Buffalo.

It gets complicated if he performs well at AA and then Bo or Chapman gets hurt, but hopefully it doesn't come to that.

Barlow would likely cost a lot to acquire given he's not a rental but i wouldn't be against it. Excels at drawing soft contact so he fits with the philosophy of the pen too.

They need to string some more wins together before anyone considers buying though.

ya and why would KC be trading him? Doing KC things. Mind you I think Barlow is 30.

Because they’re not competing and he’s a reliever with one more year of arbitration left.

He has good stats and will likely command an okay prospect but there’s a few red flags I see with him that really highlight the risks relievers can carry.

1. FB velo dropped from 95.3 in 2021 to 92.9 this year
2. Heavy slider/curve usage, throws fastball less and less each season
3. Walks ticked back up. Pitch tempo issue? He was noticeably slow before the new rules.

Team has been frustrating, but I'm just watching and putting myself on the roller coaster. Have been digging into the draft a lot for a distraction, but the mocks are all over the place for the Jays. We have shown willingness to take college pitchers, high school pitchers, and college bats, seems they could go any direction.

Any guys people are hoping we land?

Ryu must be nearing rehab assignment soon I would imagine.

Any news on Ricky Tiederman? Longer he's out the more worried I am that it's something serious. If healthy he would be a nice September add.

More worried about hitting to be honest. I think we need another middle of the order bat more than we need pitching. Belt doesn't have much HR power and Chapman has cooled down quite a bit. This team struggles to put up big innings on offense which puts too much pressure on pitching/defense to win low scoring games.

Ryu is on track to start rehab any day now from what i understand.

IIRC someone reported he likely will be back with the team by the All-Star break along with Chad Green. Likely will be a bullpen arm for most of the year.

Have to imagine this is the end for him. Damn shame given he was on track to probably have a fringe shot at the hall of fame.

At least he got the bag and ring?

IMO the Jays are going to have to go 59-45 the rest of the way. And that’s just to get to 90 wins. And maybe find someone to platoon or at least take time away from Varsho.

Hey whats the scoop on O Martinez? Terrible batting average BUT can mash the ball. Any place in the majors for him?

He’s a lot like Gallo and his seasons will likely vary in the same respect. Everything can click one moment and he’s a 3+ win guy, or everything sucks and he’s replacement level fodder.

Watching a Blue Jays game next season is shaping up to be much more expensive for some fans who sit in the lower bowl of the Rogers Centre.

But the club says the price increases will come with additional amenities and an improved experience at the game, as the ballpark undergoes its second phase of renovations.

After the Star published the story last month of a family whose cost for season tickets beside the Jays dugout will go up dramatically next year, other fans in the 100 level complained about increases for their seats.

Anuk Karunaratne, the Jays’ executive vice-president of business operations, said much of the uncertainty and apprehension comes from fans not fully grasping the magnitude of the project, which he says is almost like building a new ballpark — with all seats in the lower bowl ripped out and replaced.

“We acknowledge that for many of these fans, it’s the memories associated with their original seats, some of which have been passed down through generations, that make the change so hard,” he told the Star. “With the upcoming renovations, we are excited to offer members more choice than simply a blue seat.”

The second phase will feature an overhaul to the lower-bowl seating and price structure, including three exclusive “premium clubs” which include “unique entertainment features plus private members’ entrance and in-seat dining.”

These new sections are:

Home Plate Club Directly behind home plate, with tickets ranging from $39,500 to $68,500 per seat.

The Lounge Club Behind home plate on the first-base side, from $15,500 to $24,000 per seat.

Batting Tunnel Bar Behind home plate on the third-base side, from $9,500 to $18,000.

Home Plate Club and Lounge Club tickets include all-you-can-eat food and non-alcoholic beverages. All three sections offer in-seat service, wider padded seats, cupholders and other amenities.

“The types of entertainment experiences fans are looking for have evolved dramatically since the Rogers Centre opened in 1989, and our ballpark currently has among the fewest premium experience options compared to MLB and other entertainment venues in Toronto,” Jays president Mark Shapiro said in an April news release. “The next phase of renovations will introduce more of the amenities we know Blue Jays fans want — compelling premium experiences that uniquely cater to the Greater Toronto Area.”

Some fans aren’t happy that their season-ticket prices could jump by thousands of dollars if they keep a seat in their current location.

It's not good but I was expecting worse.

His strike zone changed with runners on

It was actually good otherwise. This is when I wish I could find Umpire Auditor data bc they showed strike zone and expected strike zone
