Remember when we had loads of top prospects. Now have 1 and our team sits in last place. Pathetic. Period

The loads of top prospects being Vladdy, Bo, Kirk, Jansen, Manoah, and Pearson? Or are we talking about noted superstars Gabriel Moreno, Austin Martin, Jordan Groshans, Simeon Woods-Richardson, and Gunnar Hoglund?

Somebody is on Rogers payroll.

I actually recently switched to Bell which was a hassle of its own.

Moreno is batting over .313 this season and has great athleticism. He’ll be moving into the first grouping shortly.

Oh and move Kirk and Jansen to the second grouping. Not many hall of famers who are 80 lbs overweight. Jansen can‘t hit his weight either.

Just like i said, literally nothing but counting stats. Batting average means absolutely f*** all.

Let's go over this since some of you are too stupid to actually understand how baseball works;

His OPS is currently .702. Per baseball reference the average league wide is .727. He's below average

His OPB is 327. League average is .320. He's a bit above average here

His SLG is currently just a tinge over .370. League average is .408. He's below average

Both measures of his OPS+/wRC+ are at 95 and 97 respectively, 100 is the average. He is below average again.

He's hitting groundballs 60% of the time as it stands thus far. He's not raising the ball, he's not pulling it, he's not pushing it, he's not hitting it hard. He's doing absolutely nothing of value at the plate outside of the occasional tiddlywink hit. But for some reason people like you are convinced he's some missing piece when in reality he's not all that much better than Kirk at the plate right now.

What is Daulton Varsho’s OPS? Oh yeah it’s .652.

….and Gurriel is .938.

The mental gymnastics required to defend this horrific Atkins trade is truly amazing.

Personally I think Moreno for Varsho, 1 for 1, would have been a fair deal for both teams. Adding Gurriel was a bit overkill imo.

Pack it up boys, time to cut bait on Varsho after a third of the season. Anyone remember what Chapman was hitting around this time last year?
I was good with the trade but it was a mistake moving Moreno over the other 2. Kirk should've been sold high on, he's not going to last long before he breaks down.

He didn’t even have a proper spring training and he’s still walking more than he strikes out. I think his numbers will be more than fine by the end of the season.

Does anyone notice that Gurriel already has more homeruns than he did last year? Can't we just be happy that a change of scenery worked for him? Plus not only does he have one year remaining on his contract, but he can't play CF.

He can't play LF either

I'm definitely not giving up on Varsho. Especially as a guy that can play CF. But 6 years of Moreno for 4 years of Varsho sounds a bit more accurate trade value wise without the need to give up Lourdes as well. Moreno had another home run tonight. The guy is a stud.

Gurriel had barely any value, so it shouldn't have changed much either way. It would have been nice to keep him (or get something else back), but if Arizona insisted on it, it definitely shouldn't be have been a deal breaker.

Neither Moreno or Gurriel would have had much playing time on the Jays so far, either.

Gurriel is a poor outfielder and was coming off a down year offensively. Furthermore, he had one more year on his contract.

Moreno is a stud but Jansen wasn't getting trading due to his lower value and work with the staff. Kirk I don't think would have has high as Moreno.

No problem trading Moreno and especially Gurriel but was Varsho the correct target?

Hitting coach would be the only firing I would get behind if they chose to do so. That talk goes away real quick if yesterday's game against Tampa was a slump buster though. Strongly disagree with people calling for Shatkins heads and don't agree with calling for Schneider though I will acknowledge some of his calls have been perplexing at best.

Things are trending up. Green is throwing, Ryu is on schedule in his rehab. And he looks like he's in way better shape even though weight was never really a problem with him. I'm also happy to be dead f***ing wrong on Berrios too. I thought after his rough start we were screwed but nope, the Jose of old is back.

Springer is slowly but surely getting hot too. This team still has a lot to proven given how nasty their next month of their schedule is, but the season is far from over.
