what did Brandon Belt do that people are calling him human trash? Seems like something beyond baseball. All I can think of is he either murdered someone, or worse he disagreed with something and didn't want to revel in it's righteousness.

He was poor, very poor to start the season. That obviously set off Shaner to the point that he referred to him as “literal trash”? “Human trash”? I can’t remember but something to that effect. Well that mountain heap of garbage has caught fire and the trash moniker has stuck.
ok good thought it might be something that would make me dislike him. This group is frustrating but at least they are likable

I don't get why one of these rich but constantly underperforming franchises hasn't yet hired away the entire Tampa scouting/mgmt staff all the way from the minors to the majors. These guys are making relatively peanuts. For the price of one Brandon Belt you can probably get most of them.

I know they have many other areas on their roster to address, but what's the point when your manager is such a goof??
I really think it's time for a front office house cleaning very soon, and then name Mattingly as the new skipper and go from there
This should've all been done at the end of last season, but now they might have to play out this season while looking for replacements for Shapiro, Atkins and whoever else though it was a good idea to sign Schneider to a new 3 year contract

I would be stunned to see Shapiro gone. He’s been in charge of a very successful stadium renovations among other things.
Atkins might go and Click take over but the team would really have to tank.
Schneider just signed and although he’s made some weird decisions at times, he’s not the problem. The problem now is the team is going through a putrid hitting stretch. If it continues, I could see Martinez get canned.

He should've been given his walking papers after last year's 8-1 wildcard meltdown

I'll throw out a hockey analogy here. The Florida Panthers weren't a very good regular season team this season and only made it into the playoffs by 1 point... but their roster is better built for the playoffs and are on the verge of a cup final. The Jays need to make it to the playoffs first like the Panthers, but I feel if we make it to the playoffs we're better built for the playoffs compared with last season with improved defence and pitching, even if our regular season isn't as good. What happens right now is pretty irrelevant if we make it to the playoffs. And there's so much baseball left that we could get in.

Does anyone notice that Gurriel already has more homeruns than he did last year? Can't we just be happy that a change of scenery worked for him? Plus not only does he have one year remaining on his contract, but he can't play CF.

I get that Otto is on the 40 man and Espinal is unlikely to be out long, but Otto has done nothing to deserve a promotion. Lineup is scuffling, why not get a hot bat like Ernie Clement, Rafael Lantigua or Davis Schneider to try and see what they could bring?

Get rid of da cheapoos from Cleveland please .. get some top end baseball mgrs who know pitching .. and get us a top of rotation lefty so we can compete in AL east .. otherwise this core is wasted much like Leafs core
I never preferred Varsho. To think they coughed up potential all star catcher Moreno in the same trade.

Don’t think there’s a point considering he’s a negative asset right now. They’d have to retain a large portion of his salary and then replace him with… nobody.
Are we happy that Moreno was tossed into the trade mix as well? The jays just dealt two all star calibre players for a 4th outfielder and defensive replacement.

What has Moreno shown this year to prove he’s an AS catcher? Walks down, strikeouts up, unsustainably high BABIP and his wRC+ is still under 100. Sure, Gurriel has been hot but with him having a down year in 2022 and only having one year remaining on his contract his value was never high to begin with.
Jays have been known to sell high or try to recuperate value for prospects that have plateaued or started to show red flags. Martin, Groshans, Moreno, all with obvious power issues. I really like Moreno and expect him to bounce back but I also expect Varsho to contribute too. It’s weird to say Moreno and Varsho are on two opposite ends of the spectrum when they’re both in the same WAR range.
