You would think for someone who claims to know things would understand that generally a) the bottom of your order is where you put your weaker hitters and b) baseball isn't like MLB the Show where your 1-9 all hit over 300. Houston won the world series with a trash can of hitter at catcher but didn't give a shit because his pitch calling and defense were valuable enough.

But nah everything and everyone is terrible.

You are complaining about the 3 bench players and the Jays worse starter. And your numbers are slightly off for Espinal and Biggio;

Espinal: .186
Jansen: .170
Belt: .161
Biggio: .122

For comparison sake, (if you want to use BA, i wouldnt but here it is) the Texas Rangers have the 2nd best offense in the league - here is their worst starter and 3 bench players;

Sandy Leon: .214
Bubba Thompson: .200
Brad Miller: .179
Josh Smith: .143

And since you asked, it can get worse:

Royals:
Melendez: .174
Massey: .167
Dozier: .161
JBJ: .159

Here are 3 of Miami's starters:
Segura: .200
Garcia: .188
Stallings: .136

Cleveland:
Brenan: .200
Aria: ,179
Gonzalez: .174
Gallagher: .083

Oakland:
Peterson: .200
Smith: .197
Kemp: .163
Diaz: .153

And if you want to compare them to other teams in our division:

Baltimore:
Santander: .213
McCann: .194
Henderson: .189
Stowers: .125

Boston:
Dalbec: .222
Refsnyder: .196
Chang: .136
Casas: .128

Yankees:
Higashioka: .195
Cabrera: .193
IKF: .189
Peraza: .188
Hicks: .156
Cordero: ,151
Donaldson: .125

3 Starters and all of the Yankees bench is hitting below the Mendoza line.

In many cases, similar or worse.

Kind of annoying they can't bury Boston with their shit tier pitching but whatever.

Why is this the one Boston team that can actually pull up when it matters unlike the other jabronis who play in the city?

Ah yes a third baseball team in Florida when the other two (one of which smack in the middle of a huge metropolitan area) already can't draw for shit. Yup that seems smart. Why don't we put a second NHL franchise in Arizona while we're at it?

I honestly think that he'd steal the Rays. And tbh, Orlando might be a better spot for them.

Bright side to this losing streak? Pearson looks good and Varsho is figuring things out. Down side has obviously been the pitching (only Pearson and Mayza have no earned runs through the 4 losses) and situational hitting. Still, 22 runs over 4 games should be enough to secure at least a couple of wins.

It's pointless to draw any conclusions from under 5 innings pitched, but Pearson has looked fantastic. He's throwing in the zone, getting plenty of whiffs, and allowing no good contact. Even when they've hit the ball hard, everyone is getting under the fastball and harmlessly popping it up.

Even with the terrible conditions yesterday he still operated in the zone consistently. For sure, 4.1 innings doesn’t give us much to ponder but he doesn’t look as erratic or nervous like the past few times he’s been up.

Luckily, Jays fans have never been burnt by believing in a flame-throwing right handed reliever after throwing 4.1 great innings. We're good boys, it's all up from here.

Merryweather definitely had the stuff, he just wasn't generating the whiffs. And after those early 2021 outings he kinda lost the ability to hit 100-101.

I’d try Jansen catching Manoah once just to see if it makes a difference at all. If not then put Manoah on the DL for a bit to get his mental & mechanics improved.

Ricky Tiedmann pulled from the game after throwing a breaking ball. Motioned for the trainers. It’s never good when you call for the trainers but here’s hoping it’s not severe.
