Parros was geared up to throw Kadri a 20+ game suspension, but then he discovered player was in-fact Mangiapani.

So naturally it makes sense he's only getting a 1 game suspension.

So yeah, I am pretty sure DOPS is just gaslighting fans now. They know how they are perceived and make these decisions just to get people riled up.

Using the Benn/Stone play for precedent.
  • Benn got 2 playoff games for a similar play, but used more force.
  • Benn had previously been fined/suspended, Mangiapane has not.
  • So if the Benn suspension equals 3-4 games in the regular season, it makes sense that it would be 1 game for a first time offender.
So while I agree he "deserved" more, it is hardly spinning the wheel of justice as some are complaining about.

This might be the most insane ruling of Parros’ career. I thought there was an argument for this to at least flirt with double digits. One game is genuinely absurd.
Nah, that still goes to the zero game suspension he gave Wilson for his antics on Buch and Panarin a few years back.

Good ole NHL wheel of “justice”. Honestly shocked.
We shouldn't be. A repeat offender got 2 games in the playoffs for a similar play. If that's 3-4 regular season games than 1 game for a first time offender makes sense.

People are only shocked because they seem to expect the NHL to give longer suspensions when they rarely do.

Not victim blaming at all, what Mangiapane is obviously suspendable and definitely should have gotten more games for the proximity to his head, but man the NHL needs to start calling delay of game penalties for guys laying on pucks to prevent chances.

Here’s the longer video (also includes the NHL’s explanation

McCann makes a great block preventing a sure goal with the empty cage, and the puck remains under him while he slides with no effort made to free or clear it, all the while letting Grubauer get back in net. Mangiapane’s “cleanest” option here is pretty much to try and spear the puck out which isn’t the best option to begin with, and out of frustration he instead chooses the dumbest possible option instead.

McCann’s example here definitely isn’t the most egregious, but that play has been a pet peeve of mine for years.

Fair point. I figured the Benn incident being in the conference finals would make it a bit apples and oranges, evidently not though.

One game...guess its worth crosschecking someones head into the ice if you have an easy game coming up next, league clearly doesnt care about player safety with this garbage ruling
