pretty f***ing stupid really the only possible takeaway here.

It's not like it's in the 3rd of a chippy frustrating game either. His 1st or 2nd shift.

I've tried looking at this from a sympathetic angle, but I don't think there is anything going for him here other than the fact that he could have cross-checked him a whole lot harder. Mind-bogglingly reckless and dumb play.

They set a standard with the Andersson suspension. I can't see this being less than 4 games.

The other thing going for him is 1st time offender.

But yeah, there is no sympathy for Mangiapane here, it was beyond f***ing stupid.

It appears Mang lost his balance. Don’t see it suspension worthy. Even a game misconduct is a little unfair.

My only thought was perhaps he only intended to cross check him in the numbers, which let’s be honest happens all the time from this position.

Problem is even if that is the case, it changes nothing. At least it appears McCann wasn’t hurt.

This is probably the most slam dunk DOPS call they can make. He wasn't falling down. He was in control. He clearly decides to take this action and it's in the head area. Just can't tolerate something like this.

Is there going to be dozens of fools defending Mangiapane? That's why some threads go on and on.
Well, I mean this was a blatant cross check to the neck, as blatant as could be.

The other was at worst, a missed tripping penalty.

That was egregious and dangerous, what did I even watch?

A high stick cross check to the back of a guy's head who was on his stomach on the ice. I didn't know that scummery existed.
