Well if you are suggesting that he has become the 7th d that is sitting, that's concerning for next season as some expect him to be our OA dman. If you are sitting Ewels the OA dman needs to be Roberts which means Brantford gets that conditional 3rd likely as it's probably conditioned on OA year.
I'm suggesting that this organization is terrible with injury timelines and we never know who's coming or going. I understand some of it is privacy and maybe holding your cards close to your chest. But even something like day-to-day or week-to-week. Any type of communication from management on injuries would be great.

I bet Musty wish he was traded now. Mind you he hasnt done much. But, this comes down to RP and his poor judgement of the roster, needs, and trading ability and evaluation.
Second year in a row he adds the wrong pieces along with picks. He made a good trade with flint then turns around and throws pics away.

Weeks back they were mixed reviews in here, if to keep Musty/ sell etc. I was back and forth in my head if they should keep him. He decides to keep him. Roberts look worse than Van Vliet. Mews isn't what the doctor ordered.

I just don't get his thought process. Things can turn around but unlikely imo. Hoping he's smart enough to move off of Walton, Pharhand in the off season.

How many more seasons/ chances does Dario give him.

He has shown year after year he can’t play with the big boys, if he is not replaced as soon as this season ends Dario is admitting this team is far from his number one priority. Coaches, players and fans deserve better.

Ewles is injured. Week to week at this point.

My niece lives in southern Ontario and was at the game in Brantford last night.
She doesn't follow the Wolves closely or know who any of the players are.
Her take was that 88 and 22 looked like they were just out for a skate.
Imagine that!
Our two leading scorers, basically disinterested, and not making any effort.
Sad state of affairs.☹️

I'm new to actually posting anything on this forum, have only ever just read for it for some fun. I have season seats and have been coming to just about every game since I was a toddler.

This season started far better than I expected, my initial thoughts were a bubble playoff team, new coach, lost most of our high end talent after the disaster that was last season, so my expectations were low, just wanted good hockey to entertain me on a Friday night and occasional Wednesday & Sunday. The first half this team looked like world beaters, played with heart and grit, true Sudbury hockey, took our knocks and kept on going. This second half, my god what a switch. Musty has to be the most overrated player in the league, guy rode the coattails of Goyette and Dvorsky last year, he's got some raw talent, don't get me wrong, but massive ego, when the game gets tough he quits and you can see it. There's no way his attitude isn't rubbing off on some of the others. I would've honestly traded him for a bag of pucks. I feel Papineau was trying to reward the players for their hard work in the first half by upgrading at the deadline and hoping Musty could provide that firepower we were missing, but it's all gone horribly wrong, as per usual. Almost feels worse that they were exceeding my expectations and gave me some hope, now it's just another frustrating season as a Wolves fan.

Apologies for the rant, needed to get it off my chest. Love the Wolves so will continue my support, just not a fun stretch.

Go Wolves Go!

At this point the roster doesn’t matter, as long as you have RP calling the shots the Wolves will never be serious contenders.

Musty definitely should have been traded, his attitude has been brutal since he came to Sudbury. Those around the team including his teammates both past and present, management, hell even U.S. hockey know it. He doesn’t want to be here so they should have moved him for whatever they could get.

You're right, sad but true. There were several times when Walton made a poor decision to pass and then watched while the defensive player skated away. Just watched and skated slowly behind the play. Musty as well. No motivation whatsoever.

It's actually disgusting to see how Walton is coasting around the last several weeks! In fact disappointing. If he's hurt then rest him if he's just playing poorly and not making an effort then sit him. A message has to be sent if that is the case. The effort from the first half to the second is not even close.

I remember someone saying 10 or so pages ago that Walton alone was worth the price of admission, and I had to agree.
What the heck has happened?
Could Musty and Mews really destroy the chemistry of this team that badly?
Yes, maybe the Wolves exceeded all expectations in the first half, but holy crap, most games, with a few exceptions, they don't even seem to be trying.
I fear it's going to be a long 30 games.....☹️

I would agree with #22, but not #88. I thought he had a strong game last night and is starting to show the offensive skill by jumping up on rush. I love that they made new D Pairings. Roberts/DeAngelis and McCoy/ Roberts. I think over time they will only get better.
Still not sure on Roberts…but Mews is an 18year old NHL defence man and should get signed by Calgary. I like home and what he will bring next season.
Might be time to utilize #77 on PP1 or PP2. Never looses a puck battle and is of high intelligence, sound what we need and more than deserving for the opportunity.

I don’t care if he scores 150pts this season, the lack of effort (anywhere on the ice), turnovers, lack of D play in own zone will turn off any pro team. The kid needs to be severely re-directed and show Wolves’s fans that he REALLY wants it. REALLY want to play a complete 200ft. game. If he comes to that realization Winnipeg has a great prospect, until he changes his ways he’s going no where (maybe school). Same goes for #13, pls just make D play a priority.

I'd hope he's not an OA option, he's just an an OHL caliber hockey player. For that matter I think Roberts wouldn't be without his last name and family either. Defense won't be pretty next year.

Reality is it's likely between Coughlan, Pharand, Ewels and Roberts for OA. Remaining options would be Molnar, Street, Digi. That's without any other moves and really we don't have many assets to bring in others OAs

Hopefully they don't feel they have to carry three, I'd rather see Coughlan and two spots used for younger players during the rebuild.

Depends on training camp, whoever they draft in April, only a max of 3 of them can make the roster. 4 of the OA candidates will be gone, our 3 existing OAs will be gone and Chucky will be gone.

Will there be enough prospects from 07 and 08 drafts to fill the spots there are 4 I can see Smith, Wreiggit, Walker and Beites pushing for spots, training camp will tell whoever else is ready.

Agreed it's disappointing. I recall deadline trades in the past that killed the team chemistry. This feels the same. Except, it appears "Musty" returning has achieved that once again. Maybe it's not Musty, but this is not the same team.

Well put, you can add Delic to the list of 88 and 22. What you are seeing in the second half of this season is lack of discipline, over playing the top six leading to a lack-of confidence in some players especially Blonda. Coaching staff is following the direction laid out by the GM and rubber stamped by the owner who still thinks his GM can do no wrong. Dario does so much for this community time to start doing the same for the hockey club.

Musty should be just as dominate as a Lardis etc and he plain isn’t! Walton unless suffering some personal issues should be downright embarrassed of his play as of late. No way Pharand is a number one pick and some of the others are “good” and that’s it. Team suffers from lack of finish, opting for high risk plays near the blue line and globetrotter like passing rather than keeping things simple, getting in shooting lanes and directing the puck at the net as much as possible. Much better effort but let’s face it,Krawchuck was the only reason the game didn’t get away. I believe I’ve been justifiably critical but I’l tell you one thing the kid is a gamer.
Add to that the regular brain dead march to the penalty box and it’s hard to see this team causing any serious damage. In fact this is somewhat reminiscent of the year they tried to load up with Fixter and what was a good first half crumbled. I sure hope it doesn’t end as badly. As some have mentioned, you have to wonder how much of a factor the altered team chemistry is playing. Well let’s see if Barney and the rest are aware and can address some f these issues but it’s tough to be optimistic at this point.
