Yes, we've seen enough offseason moves defended/championed in recent years only to subsequently blow up. Hronek is the most high-profile, but Soucy could easily revert to bottom-pairing status and be one among many. The centre and goalie depth are massive question marks, as I'd argue is the right side of the defense. They're hoping to make the playoffs by the skin of their teeth assuming none of these depth issues blow-up in their face and they face pretty much zero material injuries in the top-six or top-four.

Realistically, I think there's still too many uncertainties.

For me the biggest thing is how much will Hronek help us. Soucy and Cole I don't mind as sort of a temporary show me what you got here kind of deal, but I think we need to find Hughes a legit line mate.

Also, what do you think of the idea of us giving Nolan Patrick a shot? A cheap 1 year deal and slot him in 4/3C position?

Yeah we should all hope plays like a 7M guy because that would solve a shit ton of problems for us.

Not too worry about Soucy, if he plays like a 5 but is plays well on the PK then that will still solve the problem we have with our shitty Pk.

Also love reclamation projects as long as they are cheap. Nolan on a PTO and then giving him a 1 year contract if he doesn’t breakdown during preseason could work.

Same. I love reclamation projects and would give Nolan Patrick a shot. But what Patrick is dealing with is a migraine disorder? I can't see that suddenly disappearing completely. That would be a miracle.

They should definitely be taking shots like this, which is where PTOs might come in. Assuming you have a good PTO you want to sign, however, you’d still need Pearson on LTIR (when the season starts) or have to move additional salary. The kicker is you can lose a good PTO coming out of camp since we still have to navigate being over the cap.

I can’t see them really doing anything of note before they either move salary, or Pearson is basically ruled out. If Pearson is actually healthy in camp they basically can’t do anything.

This is just bait. Endless bait. It's so tiresome.
It isn't bait. If you are going to hold yourself out as some sort of authority or whatever because of past experience then it is more than fair if anyone wants to challenge you based on reviewing your past experience. It is similar to character evidence in a criminal trial where, I believe, the Crown is not able to submit evidence regarding an accused's character unless the accused has already put his or her character at issue by submitting evidence regarding the accused's character.

Also it’s kind of bizarre. Nobody questions that on-ice experience is useful in analysis, but they want to make it a question of authority.

Why did we also have to throw in a 2023 7th round pick to Arizona? hahahaha

I am beyond apathetic. This roster still sucks, the OEL buyout will be a major killer down the road and this team won't win jack until Petey/Hughes are long gone.

Everything about this team sucks, even the DJ and all the cringe employees who try to make the arena as family friendly as possible. The team plays with no nuts because the organization has no nuts.

I know I know, the DJ is a stupid thing to complain about but when your team is down a goal with 2 minutes left and the DJ plays "Girls just wanna have fun" you are undoubtedly going to lose. LOL. Losers

K, rant over

Apparently it's a hereditary migraine disorder... gotta feel for the poor kid. Sounds brutal

Ya it's really sad. Even if he doesn't reach his #1C potential he figures to have a long NHL career absent his migraine disorder.

f***s me up real bad, man. At least mine are related to eye-strain and there are measures I can take to limit them and lessen the effects.

Yeah I've never really been able to pinpoint what causes mine, it's usually not one thing but a perfect storm of x + y +z and then I get one. And I get a really awesome aura that messes with my vision enough that I'm pretty useless for 30-45 min.

I find that my auras and migraines are sometimes caused by neck stiffness that travels up to the muscles in the head, mixed with eye strain from my work. Usually cause by poor posture while working or sleeping.

I think it's definitely one of the x + y +z for me.

After getting rear-ended pretty badly a few years ago I had a real uptick in the frequency of migraines due to injury to my neck. That and things like dehydration, lack of sleep, seem to pile on.

Sometimes I wish I was one of the people who could be like, cheese causes migraines for me. or some other specific thing so I could avoid it like the plague.

You are clearly new here if you think this.
The question isn't whether "on-ice experience is useful in analysis". I think, generally speaking, people will agree that it is. But that doesn't mean that it is necessary or determinative of the quality of analysis. Jim Benning was a moron and played professional hockey. So no one should be so stupid as to think that just because they played hockey (including at a high level) they have a better opinion or analysis than others who have not.

But if @MarkusNaslund19 wants to claim he is some sort of authority, or more of an authority than others, or that his opinion or analysis is more valuable because he played hockey, then, like I said earlier, it is more than fair if anyone wants to look up his posting history to see if this is actually the case. As I recall, he supported Benning for years which makes any such assertion quite dubious.
