which players were dumped for nothing? Also, why do you think the Canucks haven’t been able to dump their players ?

Reilly Smith was dumped for a 3rd rounder.

Josh Bailey got dumped to the Blackhawks for nothing in return.

Ryan Johansen got dumped to the Avs for Galychenuk, who just signed to Arizona.

Need I go on? There's more. If those guys don't fit into your vision, than why not dump them? Other teams have no problem dumping guys they don't believe in.

We've seen NHL teams dump players for absolutely nothing all off season and yet those boat-anchor contracts are still on the Canucks.
They apparently wasted all of their picks after Hunter Brzustewicz.

It would have been better to have jettisoned all their subsequent picks to get off Garland/Myer's salaries to create cap space since their amateur scouting is truly abysmal and their pro scouting appears superior.

Reilly Smith is a better player than Garland and Boeser and he is on a better contract. Not seeing this as a comparable. Johansen needed 50% retention. I’m sure Boeser and Garland could be dumped with retention but the club doesn’t want to go this direction

So your saying that we could have cleared cap space with all of our picks from the 4th round to the 7th round pick ?

I'm sure rival GM's would jumping after that ?

One 3rd, and three 4th's does nothing for you then.

Using them this way is better than giving them to a Scouting staff that apparently sits in a room and argues about who they should pick and as a result apparently, ends up picking players 3 rounds above where they should be picked.

All of our scouting staff would be better off fired and replace by the staff at Elite Prospects or a $10 draft guide. I don't even get the love for Judd Brackett on these boards. We have three great pieces in a decade and two of them were top 7 picks which you should never screw up. Boeser was a decent pick but they could have picked Horvat's cousin Konecny who was taken next and a lot of people like myself were wanting. The rest are mediocre AHL fodder or playing on other teams. I think Brackett was praised for finding gems like Rathbone, Lockwood and Gaudette and look at them now. Might as well trade away any draft pick out of the top two rounds if you're Vancouver.

Nobody is ever saying that.

Try to keep up.
I’m just imagining that’s what Chuck is saying. Not a reach here - he’s a chicken little. Either way I could wear cement shoes and burlap clothing and still keep up but thanks for the advice

You’ve done nothing to prove your point.

Yup and Cam Robinson is saying that most of this year's draft class are unlikely to even get a pro contract, ever, let alone an NHL contract.

Cammi Granato should clear the deck of the current scouts and set up an amateur scouting department based on analytics like the one she worked with in Seattle.

Our management team is hardcore about getting asset back for their players. So I don’t think it’s an issue of not being able to dump them for nothing. The issue is getting picks or prospects back for them.

We’ll see if they are able to get anything. They are exceedingly patient.

Given that Cam Robinson already knows who will and won't get a pro contract, why are you suggesting anything other than just hiring Cam Robinson?

Malloy as well.

If a player is a poor skater, why are "Your Vancouver Canucks" drafting him?

Seriously, think about it. The Scouts cannot even identify players who skate well. Last I heard, the game is played on ice.

The Canucks Scouts are abysmal at their jobs, yet many of them survive regime changes.

If you want to defend them, go ahead; expect the same in the future.

I was willing to give Allvin a pass on his poor results in the draft cause the Penguins were good during his tenure. I am not sure I feel that way anymore. I am not even sure what kind of players we are identifying. Great extra forward /7th dman upside?

You are referring to the Dickinson trade I assume?

Hey, you don’t mean that !

Excellent points, which will be ignored.

It's like every year I hear that we're "one to two pieces" away....away from what exactly? Away from being a bubble team? Was Hronek supposed to push the team into the wildcard?
Last year I took the season as a joke, it got to a point where you couldn't even care anymore, it was that bad you could just laugh at how bad they were almost every game. And the fact that management thought they were just a couple pieces away from being a playoff team, with keeping the majority of the D, but structure was going to fix it, that's why I took it as a joke because the D was crap. Pretty much since Markstrom was here this team has relied heavily on goalies bailing/stealing them wins they had no business winning, and a horrible coach in TG, but horrible D, and then it got even worse getting OEL lol.(That's a Benning jab, just so ppl know)

There's no question their goal is to make the playoffs and compete, but after seeing what they did last year and tried to stay away from the bottom which made no sense, they could of just let last season slide get a good draft pick, but instead wanted to compete. So this upcoming season I'm going to be a lot more critical of this management, instead of taking the season as a joke like last year, I'm going to be hard on them until they prove me wrong.

I found my comment I wrote near the end of this last season.
This year I decided to joke about everything, because it was pretty much a write off, and the Bedard chance was actually looking promising and tbh they need a rebuild. But now that, that ship has sailed, and this management is selling it their going to compete for next year, I'm going to be a lot more critical and expecting results from them then. No more free passes, they better hope Myers and OEL aren't here or they improve dramatically which I doubt, but my expectations will be high again, because it's must win then.

And yet Ian Cole played top 4 minutes in Tampa on both sides and played with all three of Cernak, Hedman and Sergachev.

Your next decent take will be your first.
The defense is trash.

Every offseason a group of fans forget that the team sucked the previous year and make a bunch of excuses including that the defense will somehow be much improved with a 35yo dman and a career 3rd pair guy in Soucy.

Rinse and repeat.

There are two incumbent defensemen going into next season. The D may well suck, but it's not like they're not making significant changes.

To me it looks like they're making changes without actually making improvements.

Hronek could be looked at as a meaningful improvement if he actually comes back fully healthy and carries a 2nd pair, but that remains to be seen. For all we know he has a bum shoulder.

You are absolutely correct to be extremely hard on them from this second forward. They have said it in so many words that they are too good to rebuild and too close to accomplishing their goals. This is one hundred percent a win right f***ing now team and should be judged by everybody as such.

Hronek Soucy Cole is not better than OEL, bear Schenn?
