It's kind of baffling to me how little center depth this management team has given their coaches.

Why do we have to continually play Dries at center when it's clear he's not NHL calibre at that position.

Like, they don't have to spend a good asset on one, but it can't be that hard to find someone out there who will just tread water and not hurt you.

It doesn't even matter now because the tank is fully on but can't figure out why it wasn't done much earlier when they were still trying.

Doerrie on Roxy Fever Podcast today for 2 hour interview.

Have to read between the lines because she had to be cautious with her words, but essentially confirms:
-the room is not in a good state
-where the real problem lies (ownership) and that people are finally pointing their anger at the right people
-that Miller to NYI deal at draft blew up because it leaked to media that they were working on a deal at all (and they learned from it for the Horvat deal)
-Horvat being part of the solution not the problem in the room/deep problems still remain
-that they should have moved Miller/kept horvat
-thinks Raty is going to be a winger, thinks the Canucks have too many wingers and need to stop acquiring wingers.
-Scouts should get credit for a player's success if those attributes were present and identified by the scouts, but player development often should get more credit for the attributes grown after being drafted
-something along the lines of prospects who don't already have work ethic aren't worth drafting, even if they have the talent
-Doms GSVA model is the closest public model to what NHL teams use internally to value players
-feels most of the scouts at eliteprospects are better than most of the conventional nhl scouts
-wishes the best to analytics team, thinks they are great, loves the coaching staff, likes Cammi, likes JR as a person (upset at how Bruce treated), the issue lies with Castonguay and Allvin only.
Lol
if rutherford wants out this indicates to me that the tochett hire was not a victory for him. he should be energized if he got his coach and made the horvat trade he planned to make. he would want to quit if he didn't want to trade horvat and tocchet was not his guy.ol

What? This makes zero sense

Rachel thinks the old captain was “part of the solution” in terms of poor room culture but the guy captain for years letting the room degenerate.
That is not how the world works.

Currently listening.

lol. She is a real shit disturber.
If only she had the decency of having a 50-60 year old penis between her legs, the act would be much more tolerable! :sarcasm:

Or Brian Burke.
She has basically no filter. This is not a ‘she needs to cross her legs, smile more and look pretty’ take.

In the span of one interview, she put on blast the following:
- Canucks medical staff
- All of hockey as it pertains to DEI, mental health,
- JT Miller in particular
- Lou Lamiorello
- Allvin and Castinguay in particular

For all his gruff persona, Brian Burke exercises way more restraint.

I am going to post what I hate seeing all the time.

Prove it.

Where is the evidence of his choice or Eriksson, Beagle, Rousell, Toffoli, letting Tanev, Markstrom and all the other vets leave for nothing?

Prove it because I couldn't find one iota of evidence that he was talking to any agents or players or GMs' or any where any past GM has stated he was overruled.

The Captain Obvious evidence that he wants the team to win is just that most owners want their teams to win. And there is plenty of evidence of other owners making decisions hockey related. Nashville, Minnesota, Boston, Pittsburgh, Chicago, LA, Anaheim, Washington

So what is there? I say he didn't, you said he has all the time so it is on you to find something solid instead of [email protected]
Stuff like this is a hugely embarrassing cop-out. Saying "PROVE IT" when there has been reporting from numerous sources over the past few weeks, months & years that FAQ has an outsized influence over hockey ops decisions is just silly. What kind of "proof" would suffice? Lots of independently-sourced reports all telling the same story? The Canucks releasing a team statement that says "FAQ has been pulling strings on this tire fire"?

Keep putting a mic in front of Rachel it’s great entertainment watching someone implode.

Ya, I totally agree about the "Prove it stuff". But rumours and innuendo don't make it true especially when there is statements that refute those rumours from team sources and past front office Presidents, GM's and others.

In light of statements reputing those from first line sources then there should be something more than "I know a guy who knows a guy who heard..." or "if ?? sports show guy or ?? says it it must be true".

What proof might be needed in lieu of those statements, how about those same sources saying what has been accused?

Some people will attach truth to these because of outside of hockey events. But them might have a different agenda to say anything that he touches is tainted because ......?

Until media CI AV was fired this kind of rumour was rare but the media jumped all over this idea and pushed it for 2 years.

When FA got the team he fired the then front office, hired a brand new group, opened the vault and went to a cup final, constantly winning and playoffs. Many were upset by the way he fought to get the team but that was rarely brought up. But when the media's inside informant was canned they went after both Gillis and the owner like a dog on a bone.

FA responds by once again canning the entire front office and all was good again, he is letting them run the show BUT every bad choice they make is his fault. Linden prevents a quick rebuild by putting the Sedins ahead of what is good for the team then says they need a big change after spending 350 million dollars and Benning says he can produce a winner without. Then the rumour FAQ fired Linden but really Linden quit when Benning's promised plan is chosen. The owner chose between two plans presented, interference? Benning gets a free reign to be a winner, he fails, FA cans the entire front office immediately

Did anyone just listen to Gaglardi, coach and owner three hockey teams? He is in on all decisions, gives a plan to be followed, talks to big money players directly, is involved. But as he stated the US media doesn't follow this stuff too much because of the other owners of teams around him. It doesn't get much attention. But he does it. Fired Ruff, hired Hitchcock, fired Hitchcock, hired ....., works with his GM on the cap, future plans, kind of game to be played, much more involved publicly just not called interference because down there owners are expected to be more involved in their teams.

So asking for the dreaded "Prove it" might need to be something that is needed apart from when he cleans house. Yes he went to see Luongo, the GM was changing direction and he went there personally to make amends, yes he hired Bruce but first went to the Hall of Famer he was going to hire to ask his thoughts on it, personally, went to his front door. As Rutherford said no owner had ever done that before that he knows of.

Prove it, ya I hate that stuff but where is any proof from a first line source? And if there is it should be from more than one source if most of the rumored stuff is true.

Gaglardi method is better? Day to day involvement? Help creating a plan for "futures" as his example was buying cotton for a price 6 months in advance, or value for money or choosing between older and the next contract for a young player with the cap concerns, sound like owners that get involved a lot have teams that are winning or on the cusp. Maybe there isn't enough FA involvement

Given the endless shade thrown at local media personalities like JD Burke, Sekeres, Pratt, etc. or national guys like Simmons, Cox, Kypreos, Deger, Friedman, McGuire, etc, you would think that suggestions of sexism wouldn't hold any water. But, alas...

I actually agree with you here..There's no doubt that Aqualini 'green lighted' many transactions, especially big UFA signings like Eriksson, Myers, Sundin, or re-signing the Sedins..Is this meddling..?..No. it isnt...All of these moves were researched/endorsed by whoever the GM was at the time.

Even the trip to Vegas to meet Tocchet isnt meddling..Aqualini has to pay the coach out of his own pocket, not the teams..So, I get wanting to meet the coach beforehand.

Having said that, there is plenty of evidence of meddling pre 2014..Not allowing a rebuild in 2013,nixing the Kesler trade, hiring Torts, demanding Nonis trade Kesler to name a few.
