We know what the return is for Miller, it’s late first, Lundvist and Chytil. That’s not 3 solid assets, it’s like 1 sold asset and 1 prayer and 1 cap dump.

Which one was the solid asset? All I saw was a pretty average 3rd line centre, a small defenseman that needed to be flipped, and late first in a weak draft.

Of course in hindsight, I’d take it.

Rutherford is just as stupid as Jim Benning

It has to be said.
Too far.

But I do think the honeymoon period is clearly over with this management group. They can't even blame Benning for all of it either, if Miller was still a pending UFA then they'd have options, now they're just in this weird awkward position.

This is interesting as hell

Too bad we've spent the last 8 years gunning for 15th.

Dude just made this tweet and deleted his account lol

Was. That’s what the return was.

1st stocks the pool.

Nils has played well for Dallas and gives a young RHD that can play right now on an ELC.

Chytil has shown flashes and is at worst, better than Studnika as a 4th option.

Then you’d also have additional cap space to have further flexibility.

I for one, thought it was not enough at the time.

Hindsight being 20/20, I was wrong. They should have taken the deal.

Him talking about it taking a few years for Miller to learn center is a brutal quote. BRUTAL

That is Next Year Nucks type of thinking. Just kicking the can own the road.

1st , Lundkvist (1st), Chytil(middle six center) who has more even strength points than miller this year and capspace. That’s 3 very solid assets. That was the only leaked package. Who knows what other packages that were available from other teams that they passed up on.

Saving owner money, when is it ever a bad idea to save your boss millions of dollars in real money?
It's a cap team either way. The owner saves no money when we pick up someone two weeks later using the cap space freed up.

The only benefit is the cap space... which we used on Bear.

He’s a LW that doesn’t offer shit. If we didn’t pay someone to get him out this off season then we would’ve had to pay next off season to get him off.
He makes zero sense on this roster considering we have Kuz needing ice time to see what he’s worth and Pearson and Garland needing ice time to pump their value so we can trade they ass.
The only case where you would see Dickinson here for the remainder of his contract is if management wants to tank and rebuild. The moment they decided that is not the route, paying to get rid of Dickinson was probably the only option forward.
How much space would be created had they just waived him to the AHL?

Why do you continually ignore this option?

This is madness. The player is over 30 and coming off a 99-pt season.

No it’s not very sold package, odds are that Lundvist is the only piece that can actually help you in the next 3-5 years.
Bust rates for low 1st rounders are high. Lundvist is essentially offering the same value we are getting out of Bear who costs us a 5th. Chytil put up 22 -23 points in the last 4 seasons. he might breakout sure but he’s more a cap dump considering he costs like 2.3M and doesn’t accomplish much.

They passed up on a package that essentially doesn’t do shit for us for the next couple of years, big f***ing whoop.

Dickinson earns more than his cap. You free up his salary and you can use that same money to make improvements elsewhere.

He cost 2.7, waiving him takes like 1M off so 1.7M on the books still and anybody that takes that roster spot costs a min of 700ish K. So like 300k savings?

Late 1st round more often than not leads to nothing.

Chytil at 2.3M compared to Studnika at like min wage? I’ll take Studnikaz.

Nils is like a PP specialist except we have Hughes there. If you want a smallish offensive RHD, we got one for a 5th rounder in Bear.

I get why people are down on Miller but maybe people should look back on what happen with Petey last year and learn that players can be off. If he has another season like this next year then yeah we should start to panic a bit. But reality is the package we were offered for Miller had a very low probability in helping us and odds are that Lundvist is the only piece that has any kind of contribution.

I’d have taken that deal, and the cap space, and the relief from the Bozo. It’s not ideal, but neither is $8m for the next 8 years for Miller.

We've been a cap ceiling team for a long time. And finally you come around to agreeing with what I've been saying the entire time in the bolded, thanks.

So similar savings to the transaction they made but still have the 2nd round pick?

And wouldn’t have been icing Riley Stillman over half the games this season.

Move looks dumber as the days go by.

Geez let’s be honest here you guys. You guys are just pissy as f*** because this management group decided not to rebuild so from that perspective everything they do is wrong. Some of this shit you guys arguing for is so god damn stupid. Anyone with half a brain can tell Stillman is part of the cap dump, f***ing hell JR even came out and said it’s a cap dump but you guys have to fixate on Stillman being a target and the only reason is because if you do that you can paint them in a bad light.
Like seriously, if you dislike the management group, which you have clearly stated already, just go ahead and shit on them in an honest way instead of making stupid shit up and trying to look at stuff at a way to justify the conclusion you have made already.

Everybody knows BB and the management group are on completely different wavelengths. to argue otherwise is just f***ing stupid. Like JR went on hockey night in Canada to say out loud BB is not doing what they want. What other obvious signs do you need to see before realizing the message that everyone is getting?

If there is one thing to know it’s that this management group is just hired and guess what, they are going to be here for at least 2-3 more years. Whatever the f*** they are doing, they are not even close to done yet and if you want to shit on them for the next 2-3 more years regardless of what good or bad they do, have fun because you are going to have a miserable time.

I came to a very sad realization today. I’m not sure if everyone here will get this, but I think it makes sense anyway. The Vancouver Canucks, my favourite team, are a non-playable character, or NPC, in the NHL world. Nothing we do while Francesco Aquilini is in charge matters. We aren’t one of the teams that are actually competing for anything. We are a background franchise. We are the mindless background characters in video games that the player behind the controller doesn’t even interact with. Or NPC. Every year we have the same shortsighted plan executed to(barely) varying levels of success. And that’s what we will do next year. And the next. Cause that’s what the NPC is programmed to do. And that’s how our management is programmed from the top on down.
I've thought about buying a Washington Generals T-shirt before (for those who don't know, that's the designated nemesis of the Harlem Globetrotters). I suppose in some ways, I already have. [wistful look]

I saw the Globetrotters “compete” with the Generals back sometime between like ummm 1990-1992. Totally like that with our Canucks. We are like the Washington Generals. Or if this were to be pro wrestling, the Vancouver Canucks are a jobber franchise. Damn.

This post is trash.

Very lazy and instead of being able to answer a simple post there instead is a wall of text rife with logical fallacies without addressing it.

The fact that you are still trying to argue that Stillman is some targeted acquisition just shows how biased you are and you are more focused on showing things to support your conclusion rather than have a honest discussion.

nils aman, lane pederson, curtis lazar, jack studnicka and sheldon dries have a combined 105 games for the canucks this year. there's no reason dickinson couldn't be a regular on this team
Dickinson was trash glad to see him gone
