Yeah I don't get this, needs context or tone that I'm not getting through the tweet lol.

He was asked if they were going to adjust and bottom out. Joked that they already were tanking. Says that he would never go to the coach or players and tell them to purposefully lose or not put in their full effort. Later talked about how they want the 1st overall pick and are taking a step back this season. Basically the team sucks and he recognizes it's best for the organization to keep losing.

Wellp.

I'm sorry what lol
He posted here defending his “work”

You need POM’s old avatar but Rutherford as Dirty Harry.
I’ve said before, I am waiting till this off season. So if shits still bad in the off-season, you’ll see me switch over. You can even quote me on this. I am not going to be like pastor and just make shit up to defend a management group because of some ego thing.

Yeah it seems like he is saying this to respond to the rumors of the management team not wanting to tank.

FAQ really learned you need a personable character to really buy more time. Linden was supposed to be that guy but he came off as to insincere and combative to the public.

It does work wonders for naïve people. You hear stories of companies hiring a new approachable VP or PR spokesperson after a traumatic period of layoffs/firings, in a lame attempt to rebuild moral and company imaging, only for the company to just fire more people. One of my companies did this, we had so many workshops and meetings aimed at gauging why our moral was lacking, and then laid us off during COVID.

That makes sense, a raging tire fire is burning so Fredo gotta take a piss on it to show that he's trying to resolve the situation. But of course he cannot be seen taking a piss on it himself, so he had to hire someone to do it.

Either way, like I said, my opinion of Molemand Alv Fredo and the whole team won't change one bit until I see some actual changes. Until then, this is a loser team ran by losers, managed by losers, and is making all other losers in the league look like cup winners in comparison.

It's scary when Rutherford in one breath says they're doing everything they can to resign Horvat and then next admitting that he has had a career year and wants to get paid. Also, doubling down on Miller instead of admitting a mistake doesn't help. This team likely won't be able to move OEL, Boeser, Myers, or Garland until the offseason because of the tight cap around the league. So stop wasting energy on trying to do it now and focus on getting a haul for Horvat, Kuzmenko, and Schenn. I'm getting Benning vibes here where he was so obsessed with obtaining OEL for a whole season he lost out on Tanev and other players who were on the trading block or waivers who could have helped our defense.

We prefer to trade our prospects for players that would have been put on waivers
Sigh…

Rutherford’s “age gap” players.
Dermott, Bear, Studnika cost 3rd,5th and a RHD prospect , can’t remember his name.

Benning’s “age gap” players
Baertschi, vey, Pedan, pouliot, Clendenning, and a bunch more that cost multiple 2nds, 3rds, Forsling and some…

The fact you guys either choose to ignore the difference in scouting and the acquisition cost just tells me you guys are either purposefully ignorant or actually ignorant.

OEL is not going to be moved lol.
What’s the point of lumping that in with the rest. We all knew that was going to be the biggest anchor contract the moment Benning blessed us with that trade.

sounds like you're being ignorant in ignoring trading a 2nd to save $1.2 and taking probably the worst player on this roster in Stillman who has term and plays the left side

its clear who is ignorant
so spare me

Yep, exactly.

This will satisfy the non-HF people out there, and the will forget once Tocchet gets the dead cat bounce and everyone forgets how horrible the season will go.

Horvat stays for the playoff push, we trade more assets for "help", we miss the playoffs, win meaningless games at the end to ruin the odds for Bedard, and rinse and repeat.
Exactly what's going to happen. SMH

Look at this gem of a quote from Jimmy and tell me you didn't just get flashbacks of Vey, Clendenning, Granlund, Dahlen, Goldobin, Dalpe, Pouliot etc etc etc etc. This team needs major surbgery but I believe in the core so i will continue doing the exact same thing as we've done since 2014/2015 and bargain bin shop while spending to the cap on washed out tweeners who belong on the pine and not the ice because moneypuck.

“I'd prefer to get younger NHL players that maybe didn't work out in their entry level contract and, you know, bring them in and give them a second chance."

omg lol

Any links/quotes?

He paid cap dump price to dump Dickinson. Seems like you are the one overlooking that part of the deal. Hell JR even admitted they paid to dump Dickinson.

i think the worst part about these "pushes"

is we literally injured our starting goaltender so bad with consecutive starts that he had to require surgery in the offseason
32 of 35 starts, and one of those 3 he still came in to play most of the game.

This organization is rotten to the core. Nothing has changed with a new management team.

The way they are treating Bruce is truly awful. Same way they disrespected a heart and soul player like Tanev by ghosting him. Same as how they did not protect the players during COVID. Going even further back the back stabbing of Linden.

I don't know what happened with Pearson but is it a surprise that players may think that the team did not "handle it properly"?

Nothing's going to change until the entire organization is overhauled.

The fact that there is a group of people falling for the same shit all over again is so telling of the collective intelligence of this fanbase.... WOW

Respectfully. Benning also had Granlund and Baertschi which looked like wins at the time. Until....

Uhhh Granlund was trash, we were all saying that when they acquired him.
We all said Baertschi’s price was steep.

That’s the thing, Benning paid premium for these 2nd hand pieces. JR and Allvin had paid discount price for 2nd pieces.

Credit is due for being open and honest, but I think the problem is that we're not looking for more talk.

We want something productive to be done about the situation.

I agree we need to see action, but I don't think anything can be done until closer to the deadline.

let's wait until dermott and studnicka get contract extensions or at the very least contribute to a winning team here before we declare them pro scouting wins
