I honesty worried about the Flyers becoming good because of Hextall and how he was running the team.
I enjoyed when Hextall was their GM, watching their snail pace 30 year rebuild. It was hysterical that he hired Hakstol and refused to fire him.

How much is it the Philadelphia media and fans that put pressure (and criticism) on ownership to win to the point that ownership/management has to cave in all the time? I wonder if that is the root of it?

For sure that's it - well, and the fact that we've had a legacy of being very good for a long time (even if we hadn't won a Cup for 40 years). So a decade of no real Cup contention is unacceptable in their eyes (and I get it), but they sadly hired a guy/have people in power who don't know how to build a roster.

I think the concern is that they are too good to be truly bad, but as they slow down they likely won't be good enough to be the driving forces behind winning a Cup.
The year after they leave the Pens will get 5 years worth of “truly bad” in a single season

Tiger Woods put gif. Joy. Legacy time secured.

Malkin and Letang reductions paid for Rust and Carter and half of Rakell.

We can go with what we have and hope for an UFA bargain panning out. Further meaningful adds means bye to a salary (Zucker, Petts, Dumo).

I sign out for 60min and you wankers go nuts.

So:
- Dreger is a smuck, dont trust him at all
- Hex screwed around with Geno and Geno is firing back, dont blame him
- I think this is Geno stabbing back in the knife fight, hes pissed at either the front office, the media or both and this is going to make the fans want blood
- this will get Sid involved if hes not already, tomorrow Hex offers up something else and Geno signs
@ColePens

This was Monday at 4:40pm MST. Pay up :P

Kingerski: Penguins, Malkin Deal Caves to Emotion; Cap Ramifications of 4th Year

“The Penguins and GM Ron Hextall did something they shouldn’t have, and Malkin accepted less than he probably thinks he’s worth. They both succumbed to fear.”

Our media is so damn bad. They are f***ing awful.

I mean be fair, Kingerski is just pissed because that's 6.1 per year they can no longer use to sign Nic Deslauriers or Eric Gudbranson again or use to tempt Krzysztof Oliwa out of retirement.

The Penguins playoff hopes now rest upon Malkin getting injured.. and a crop of AHL players being molded by Sid into a team of workers.

Pretty much the only time this roster has been threatening in the last 5 years.

At least we get to watch Malkin and Letang play tiddlywinks with the puck on the powerplay. I really don't get mad when they give up a short handed breakaway.. i am desensitized to it.

Pretty cool to have those 3 potentially play their entire careers with the Penguins.
Two of the 15-best players OF ALL TIME will play their entire career for a ”mid market” penguins team that was, before their arrival, on the brink of leaving town.

in the cap era.

it’s amazing.

If we’re honest, as fans, I think we can look at the overall outcome of this era with a level of disappointment, simply because it truly feels like horrible injury luck robbed us of 2-3 deep runs, but

3 cups, 2 goats, 1 team, 0 drama is truly amazing. And for a guy who is definitely starting to not care about sports anymore, it‘s a reminder of why I used to care so much and just how awesome being a fan can be

It’s amazing that the team won 3 cups with all the injuries, Ray Shero, post 2017- Sullivan, post-2017 JR, Bylsma, early 2010’s Fleury, Johnston, Hextall not doing anything for 2 years, hindering the team.

Guys like Madden and Kingerski Yohe etc don’t have any sources. Rossi’s only source is Malkin. DK has some sources in the org. Everything these guys write needs to be seen in that light. Almost never have they broken news
