The last game he was .969. That is sort of my point. A 5'11" rookie goalie had a .969 against NYR. They are going to have to do better.

So you give the rookie who has won at every level he has ever played at and made highlight saves to keep Montreal in the series no credit at all for the saves. All of our shots must have been right at the C on his chest??

I couldn't give a rats furry ass what the rest of HFBoards thinks.

Kings and Hawks are good teams but so are we and we'll give either a run for their money.

This thread was about our chances in the SCF. I was just voicing my opinion that I personally would be feeling more confident and optimistic if we had won the series against an experienced and tested goalie like the one we are going to face in the finals. I wasn't suggesting that we didn't earn it or we slipped in through the back door. As good as Takarski was he was still not Jonathan Quick good, imo, and we will have to be better.

Thank you eco bones for that interesting historical perspective.

I would have felt better about our chances if we had beaten MTL with Price in the net. I'm sure I'll get ripped apart here, but that's just my opinion. Once they didn't have Price and especially at the end without Emelin and Weise they were clearly hobbled. Plus MTL wasn't even playing well for many games and it still took us 6 games to beat them.

My only point is that except for the second round, I feel the NYR have arrived at the SCF a bit untested. They can be so inconsistent. I hope they step it up and we get a good 6 or 7 games out of this.

Well, technically they just have to go 1 game over .500.

Yesterday everyone on here had the Kings in the finals.

Now that Chicago has won game 6, Chicago is going to the finals.

This place flip flops every game. Its amusing.

Im so sick of people kissing ass of the West teams. Sure Chicago is very good offensively but tehir defense is pretty atrocious. Crawford isnt terribe but he isnt good. the Kings are physical but you can tell their style is starting to wear them down a bit. The Rangers will be much fresher. We have also done very well against the Hawks this year and kept Kane and Toews pretty quite in both games

Same on the main board. It's the Snowblind syndrome - only living in the moment unable to look at the big picture :P

I like how some people on the Stanley Cup sub-board aren't taking this into account. If the Kings win, they'll have played 7 games in a series three times (21 times). You can already tell they look worn down.

Blackhawks have also played a ton of games dating back to last June.

Rangers have a few days off to rest, and hopefully the coaching staff can view some of these games to create a good scouting report.

I keep reading easy win for West. Kings or Hawks in 4 or 5.

I'm biased of course but I ain't buying it. Speed and The King.

I thought we couldn't beat the Habs because we don't play well in Montreal? We lose all 3 in Montreal, split the two games at home, so it's the Habs in 5.

Also, how would we match up against the great Pens team with Cindy, Malkin, Neal, Kunitz, Letang, etc? Seriously, Richards? Zuccarello? St. Louis? Hagelin? Kreider? LoL, no chance, none!

The Rangers are in a "pick your poison" scenario. Kane is playing unbelievable clutch Derek Jeter-isc hockey right now. I believe Crawford is emotional and beatable so there's that. The Kings have Carter who seems to be at the top of his game right now. He just looks so dominate whenever he has the puck. Doughty and Kopitar, especially Kopitar, are equally dangerous.

We are going to have to be as close to flawless as we have ever been if we want to win the Cup. I believe this teams spirit and determination are over 9000 right now but our skill is going to have to be at peak levels (Nash I'm looking at you). 7 games is not farfetched at all.

Prefer to be the underdog then the heavy favorite.

People say that, but it's obviously false. Let's just say that in addition to steal McDonagh for Gomez, Slats would've managed to also steal P.K. Subban for Drury. With a star PMD (plus we would've moved MDZ to improve our offense instead of to acquire Klein), we would've gone into the Finals as the favorite. Or let's say that instead of MDZ, we had drafted Stastny. Would you have opposed that? Would you feel worse about our odds if we had Subban or Stastny?

The rangers are in a great position despite who they play. The kings have played a ton of games and if they win they will be tired without much rest and have too fly home. If the hawks win they will also be tired and dont have teh defense or teh goaltending. The Rangers will be fresher and more motivation considering everyone is kissing teh West's ass

I dont think anyone has mentioned that we should have the edge in coaching as well. AV has spent the past 6 or 7 years in that other conference....he wont have to learn them from scratch.....I think AV will have this team much more prepared than either Sutter or Quenville (sp?) will have their teams prepared.

Nvm, Inferno. I copied and pasted the link into Firefox, and it works there. Wasn't working on chrome for some reason.

i always use FF...i'll check out the chrome issues going forward...really i think i'll make it so the mp3 can easily be downloaded too so you dont just have to listen to it on the site.

here's who i want the rangers to play with a 20 minute explanation on why.

Nice. Good point about the Rangers bringing a different look compared to other teams the hawks have played. I think it's often overlooked how hard it can be to switch gears when you're used to playing a certain way throughout the whole postseason. I definitely think that helped the Rangers against the Canadiens.

Of course people think that.

1. People all over still don't want to acknowledge that the Rangers are the fastest team in hockey. They will get faster with some prospects making the team next year.

2. They don't understand that Crawford and Quick are not on Lundqvist's level. Crawford is basically Osgood who has a high scoring team behind him. Quick had one great playoff run. He's been below average this year in the playoffs.

3. When other teams scorers don't score against the best goalie in the world in Lundqvist, they get frustrated and their game goes to crap.

4. People all over don't want to acknowledge that the Rangers can basically shut down any offensive team when they play the type of defense they did in game 7 vs. Philly and Pitt and game 6 vs. Montreal. Philly and Pitt were two of the highest scoring teams in the league. They were made useless for the most part by Lundqvist and the Rangers defense.

I think the WCF going 7 is a factor a lot of people are overlooking.

By the time the Cup Final will start, the Rangers will be on 5 days rest, the Kings or Blackhawks on 2 days rest, and would have played 3 long series. Fatigue WILL play a factor at some point, especially if the series goes long.
