it's a lot of secondary talent. Let's see what HuGo can do with it...
It’s a lot of young talent. Teams will pay for that. Imagine adding Struble to those Carey Price clubs. We desperately could’ve used him. Now he can’t crack the lineup.

Lots of teams would want that guy. Joshua Roy on the right team could do really well… there’s talent that we need to cash in on if we’re not planning on bringing these guys in ourselves.

Usually somebody has great camp and makes team. Could be Reinbacher
Missed too much time, think he’s better served logging in AHL minutes next year.

I’d like to see Mailloux given a 10-15 game run for proper evaluation then go from there.

Kapanen and Demidov are my only automatics to make the team out of camp next year, but of course we’ll see!

If Roy isn’t with the team -and it’s looking less likely that he will be- then they need to maximize the asset and trade him. He’s too good to just sit in the AHL.

I think Reinbacher is a sure thing to join the team next year - but not a sure thing to start. We may see him join a bit later on.

I agree about Reinbacher. We'll see how he does the rest of the year. He may not start, but I can see him joining the team mid-way like Beck. They'll start calling him up and give him games.

Roy needs to continue to upgrade his pace. We'll see with him.

Reactions: Lafleurs Guy
I donmt think we’ll see both Beck and Kapanen on the team. We won’t roll with two center rookies and Dach still a question mark.

It sounds like Savard/his family want to stay in Quebec. I wonder if he stays as our 6/7 veteran dman cheaper.
Anything is possible but his play has dropped so far the only way I'd want that to happen is if he took league minimum or there abouts. He's a great guy, his teammates love him so if he continued in his mentoring role at that salary, I'd be ok with him being the 7th.

I'm guessing he'd be under 2M in this situation if it were to occur. Have him play 20-25 games essentially filling in for injuries or if young guys need a break/sit a game or two.

They are already the youngest team in the league, don`t know the wisdom of getting even younger. Need some vets around to take the pressure off the kids and for them to learn from. I would load up Laval and let some of the rookies earn their way into the lineup.

Demidov, Beck and Kappy likely to start with the big club.

Reinbacher starts if we don't acquire a RD. We have no other options.

Mailloux will be up and down and we may trade him at some point.

Finally, after the NCAA season Hage arrives in Spring of 2026 for the playoffs.

Cole - Suzuki - Slaf
Laine - Dach - Demidov
Heinemen - Newhook - Kapanen
Anderson - Beck - Gally

Guhle - Matheson
Hutson - Reinbacher
Xhekaj - Carrier
Mailloux

Insert Hage anywhere an injury occurs. He could hit 2nd line for Dach right out of Michigan if needed.

At the end of the season we will have some decisions to make with Dach and Laine. Laine will not be worth more than 7 million for what he has been bringing. Dach is worth max 4.5 mil. He probably wants a short deal to get him to UFA.

2026/27

Cole - Suzuki - Slaf
Laine - Hage - Demidov
Newhook - Dach - Kapanen
Heinemen - Beck - Anderson
Gally

Guhle - Nemec
Hutson - Rein
Xhekaj - Mailloux

Hage will be in the AHL. I doubt he will step right into 2nd line C duties right out of college.

I agree that it is unlikely both will play centre, but I could still see both making the team with Kapanen likely starting on the wing.

It would be nice to maximize them. But on the other hand, it's also nice to let the cream rise to the top and then some other players that are secondary just aren't retained.

Kovacevic was traded for peanuts. Barron got us Carrier. Harris was a throw in in the Laine deal, imo. We'll see whether Struble gets us what Kovacevic got us or Barron got us - or is a throw in in a big deal like Harris was. Timing and other teams' interests play a part...Roy is in danger of being the next Jacob Pelletier - finding himself going unclaimed in waivers at some point...It's too bad Mesar isn't working out. But great that Heineman is. Not all will pan out or amount to anything. That's one of the advantages of having a large pool.

But if Struble can find a home next to Lane Hutson that would be huge - if only for his trade value!
