This guy is not near average dman in the NHL, but on this team he already in number 2 or 3.
Says more about the Leafs than him.

Yet you blame Treliving for being "useless". Treliving said the team needed to get tougher to play against, and with the moves he's made he's done that. As the season has progressed we've seen what he saw in Bertuzzi, Benoit, Domi, and Reaves. Say what you want about their consistently levels, but they've added toughness and grit to the lineup. You can see in them what Tre was hoping to get from them. I like Bert's game right now, and can see how he's going to help us in the playoffs. Reavo is playing his best hockey of the season, and has the opposition's defence looking over their shoulder. Domi stands up for his teammates and isn't afraid to mix it up during scrums.

Boosh continues this trend of making our team tougher to play against in the playoffs. Of course Boosh isn't a #2-3, which we all wanted. But Tre had to address the need for our d-corps depth and a RHD and this does that without giving up too much. Give the man some props, and let's wait to make "useless" comments till the deadline is complete.
I would only add that adding a #2-3 without getting hosed on the deal is a pipe dream. I'd rather not pay big for a rental and we simply don't have the assets to pick up a guy like that with term. Also, even if the deadline was past, I'm fine with this. I would like to see us add one more Dman, a similar deal to the one we just made but even if that doesn't happen, I'll be pretty happy if we keep our top prospects and picks.

The only move he needed to make was bringing in a partner for Rielly, and he brought in someone who proved he couldn't handle that. Treliving is so useless

Apparently it needs repeating that yesterday wasn’t the trade deadline, but also worth pointing out that trading first and second round picks every single year proved to actually be useless.

Really enjoying all the hysterics though, keep it up.

We already tried this back when both Boosh was playing better, and we could insulate him better, and it didn't work then, so I'm not sure why we're going for round 2.
There's also talk about him helping the PK, but while he plays PK minutes, he hasn't gotten good results in them...
He's cheap, right-handed, and theoretically defensively focused, so that's something I guess...
If we were going to add defense this deadline, would have preferred somebody that could actually make a difference. Or even just a fresh idea...
But I guess we'll see how it goes. Maybe the familiarity helps him? Let's hope.

"Insulate him better"

He was literally playing on the top pair with Rielly for the majority of his time in Toronto

Who was the #2 RHD? The guy who's been a healthy scratch since January in Detroit. Yeah that's some solid insulation.

Yeah, he played with Rielly, and we had better pairings and defensive and PK players surrounding him back then.

You're missing the point: we don't care about the charts, at all. Didn't care about them when Simon Benoit was apparently was a disaster waiting to happen and don't care about them now.
But everyone seemed to care when it was Klingberg who also played for the craptastic Ducks.
I like this move

We'll have a pretty physical blueline, if nothing else. In terms of hits among defensemen league-wide, Benoit is 6th, McCabe is 9th, and Lybushkin is 33rd.

I wouldn't put too much stock into this, since all three players have their fairly significant shortcomings. But if we draw the Panthers in the first round, I hope at least one of them knocks Sam Bennett or Nick Cousins into next week.

When the rules change in the playoffs like it always happens to benefit the goons and big slow defenceman .......The Russian Bear will fit right in :) . Its just a matter of what will the refs let the Leafs get away wih stuff that other teams do. We witnessed the Vegas D....slow as molases but when refs turn a blind eye to interference...crosschecks....clutch and grab....The leaf team suffers as we are more of a skiled puck possesion team.

Then being once again last in PP opportunities......its not a good combination.

Been happening forever.....only professional sport that changes rules in playoffs to hinder stars that have skill. But we are all brainwashed to think its grit and heart that wins plaoff games.

Thats why at the TDL you over pay for goonish big players that are supposedly tough hiding behind plastic armor and a shield. Now a days ...most fights are patty cake fights and players hurt their hands more then their face.

Having a night to sleep on it I still don't like the move but I'm happy it's a future pick (2025) I didn't realize that yesterday which is good to good more ammo for today. I also like the retention aspect of it (less than league min). I'm sure Boosh will do better here than Anaheim and I can appreciate the thought behind needing a specific type of hand and style.

As is the case for most years, interested to see what is coming next. Has to be judged on the whole March 8th and there's more to be done.

I don't mind Brodie on the left hand side in a reduced role, but if he gets traded, probably should look at getting another D in return. Perhaps a cap dump in a bigger trade
As much as I’d like to see Brodie traded, it won’t happen with his off ice problems, let’s just hope they’re not stupid enough to resign him…….

And with all those better pairings and defensive players we still needed to strap him beside the #1D?

I'm gonna end it here cause you'll never admit you're wrong but anybody with 2 brain cells to rub together can clearly see that playing with the #1D at ES is not "insulating".

Off ice issues? I don't really follow the drama stories so I'm completely unaware of any off ice problems

Lilly’s had a tough year, and no doubt still suffering from the high ankle sprain, I’m not one for giving out hall passes, but in Lilly’s case he probably deserves one…….
Could be his ankle acting up again or not could be unrelated
