With the snot up front, emergence of the Benoit/Mccabe pair, this is the heaviest team we've ever seen here. Let's see if it makes a difference, because we still have world class skill to burn.
Tre has definitely added some snot so far, and none of it is the geriatric kind………

I would suggest to you that they have no choice but to bring in another player regardless because Gio went down tonight and he didn't look good coming off the ice so that's Gio, Lilly and Timmins all out.

Boosh is a start but Boosh is not enough
Gio’s ready to join the coaching staff imo, time has caught up with him, it’s been a great career…….

Exactly the type of player to acquire, cheap and fills a need, now go get Peeke and the right side is fixed without paying a king’s ransom………
Peek has played horrible, he's barely able to crack the Columbus lineup, he's not the solution

Brodie can now move back to the left side Keefe can have Boosh play with Rielly, Brodie can slide down and play with McCabe or Liljegren
Either side, Brodie’s fear of physical contact is a issue, he’d better grow a pair before the playoffs start……..

I can stomach this if Boosh is on the 3rd pairing...if he was brought in to be on the 1st pairing then:

I'll give Bundy the benefit of the doubt until after the TDL, I don't believe he's done.

He’s exactly the solution, cheap, physical, and dependable. I could care less that Columbus doesn’t play him, every coach has his doghouse players…….

I guess we see if it translates.
It won’t be quite as easy a cakewalk if they meet Florida again imo……..

I wanted him re-signed previously. Sandpaper and break a cycle, he wasn’t my first choice but we know what he is with Rielly. At the very least we’re a harder team to play against.

why are so many posts here about dubas lol

Lyubushkin is worse than nothing. He can't handle the puck, at all. If he's playing in the playoffs he will probably give the puck away at a crucial time. He sucks. Every defensemen we've played this year are better, standing pat is better than doing this. It has nothing to do with how many draft picks we have.
Why so many posts here about defending Dubas? lol
_________
This is a really biased and unfair assessment of a player. I'm not going to say the Lyubushkin is amazing, but you make it seem like he has no business playing in the NHL.

Since there is a salary cap what is your strategy for acquiring Makar, Pietrangelo, Fox, Heiskanen, and McAvoy at the deadline?

I think everyone is missing Kirill Slepets in this deal he is 5'10" , 24 years old and has had a Meh! season in the KHL .... did someone slip some Dubas juice in Tre's coffee? Small, underperforming winger.... sounds like a Dubas deal to me ;)

Hey under league min for a guy (Bush) who can crunch and as a #6 slots in perfectly, I may have been in the minority but I was in the bring Bush back when he became a UFA with the Leafs.

With 138 Blocked shots he becomes our 1# shot blocker and 122 hits becomes tied for 3rd in hits.

The Russian defenseman is at his best when he keeps things simple and does not try to do too much offensively; he has never been much of a point producer at any level of his hockey career. He is a physical presence on the blueline and will be even more effective as he continues to get accustomed to the smaller ice surfaces in North America.

Very easy to be skeptical about the player but he will at least help our PK, bring some physicality and has familiarity with our coaches/players.

I'm sure Keefe was heavily involved in this move as he previously had coached this player, so doubt they would re-acquire him if the coach wasn't really a fan.

I expect us to still make another move and eventually he could just be a depth #7, so too soon to make total conclusions.

I'd be very interested in how they're measuring Hockey IQ.

It's low cost for the TDL and doesn't move the needle much. Nice to add a PKer and an extra body, especially RH, won't hurt
Our PK and our inability to clear the front of the crease are weaknesses, he checks those boxes. It’s a depth add.

The only move he needed to make was bringing in a partner for Rielly, and he brought in someone who proved he couldn't handle that. Treliving is so useless
The previous GM was useless .
He never never built the D when he had a chance to draft a dman Guhle he picked more offense. Man he would look good today.
Any of the D we drafted were small offensive dman Sandin and Durzi.
Schenn we should have signed as soon as he got here we may have got him for 1.5 mil * 3 yrs

Treliving got caught between a rock and a hard place
The 3rd rd pk is for next yr and they retained 50 %
We needed a RD not alot out there

I liked him when he was here before just because he is physical and the Leafs were incredibly lacking in that dept at the time. Now with McCabe and Benoit it isn't quite as dire a situation so I hope Lyubushkin is strictly 3rd pairing.. he doesn't stand out in a good way defensively for the most part.

This is just for depth to help out, it makes 0 iota of difference whether we go far or not. I personally think they should just stand pat. No more bleeding assets for potentially 0 or maybe 1 round win. Sink or swim with what you have.

Florida series knies and Kampf got ruffed up by Bennett and Gudas nobody did anything
Won't happen this yr.
Tkachuk Bennett Gudas we doing what ever they wanted.

I don’t like it on its face. It’s like dubas. We keep throwing away picks on rental players.
Pay the difference for quality pieces that can go long term.

Rielly Brodie
McCabe. Lilly
Benoit. Lub

Isn’t a good enough top 6. Unless we are planning on dumping Brodie/lilly for a clear upgrade what’s the point.

Now we have Gio Lagesson Timmins as depth?

If we sell Lagesson for a 5th somehow I guess it’s ok? But just dumping mid picks for ok rentals is silly.

I agree but by double retention, Tre has given himself the option to make another move and I expect him to use another one of his trade bullets (and/or possibly Robertson).

You can already see a different team culture, nobody is getting away with anything…I’d rather go down like that than being considered the softest team around the league. And the kicker, we still have some of the best skill in the game.
