I don’t mind it but….
Lyubushkin - #5/6
Liljegren - #4/5
Benoit - #5/6
That ain’t gonna cut it on the Right side, we need someone to be able to play at a high level on the right side. At least a clear top 4 dman, but this makes a ton of sense short term
Not everybody puts much weight in advanced stats but based on these, he didn't do very well with Rielly in the playoffs at all so he isn't really a fix for anything. Kind of the reverse of Schenn who was bad in the regular season and good in the playoffs. They could still make a deal for an actual top 4 RD but that means either breaking up Benoit and McCabe so McCabe can go back left or getting rid of Lilly and I don't see either of those things happening. There is no way he comes back without Keefe in his corner so I guess we'll see.We upset about a 3rd round pick? Who cares.
He worked really well with Rielly last time. If he gels with him again before TDL, we got a cheap fix for our issues. If he doesnt, then we go ahead and get another dman with only losing a 3rd round pick for a depth dman for playoffs.
I'd still rather keep him as a second or third parking guy and Lyubushkin doesn't really change thatChances Liljegren+ is moved for a legit top pairing D?
Extremely minimal imo.Chances Liljegren+ is moved for a legit top pairing D?
Could just be keeping options open.We didn't need the retention right? So what else is happening here?
I wouldn'tChances Liljegren+ is moved for a legit top pairing D?
It's strange we got his rights, somebody sees something, such an odd move.Russian quota? We havent brought a russian over in a while now after Zaitsev, Ozighonov, Mikehyev, Barabnov.
This dudes though probably is not good enough for a top 6 role on the marlies
I'm pretty sure there are options between Marner and Boosh... It's not 1 or the other...So we go with Marner for D depth? LOL
For sure, does suggest we have something else close too.Could just be keeping options open.
How's he not propping them up? He played with Schenn for a month and tripled his salary. Did similar for Lybushkin.
If anything Schenn covered up a lot Rielly mistakes and allowed him to become a top rushing D.Are you forgetting Schenn was a stud with Quinn Hughes right before he was traded and had multiple suiters after him at the deadline as well? Schenns overall play with both Quinn and Rielly earned him that contract. It wasn’t just Rielly.
You feel this prevents them from making any other moves? They need a guy to play SaturdayI'm pretty sure there are options between Marner and Boosh... It's not 1 or the other...
He doesn't have a contract in the KHL beyond this year, so he is available to come over.Kirill Slepets

So why did we get this guys rights? Ah... never mind... it's what Carolina sent us, in exchange for the 6th and retention... ya... he'll never come over, nothing to see here.
Only now...in a Lyubushkin thread.People undervalue Lilly.
A weird deal, Leafs have cap space for him, so why does Tre waste a 6th to save some cap? is another deal coming??![]()
He’s short, flip him to Pittsburg and recover a pick? It's strange we got his rights, somebody sees something, such an odd move.
Islanders is a potential trade partner no one's talked about... I wonder if that would be viableWe didn't need the retention right? So what else is happening here?
