Where are these Rattie comparisons coming from? Rattie's never put up these kind of numbers. He was in the WHL at that time.

Rattie in the AHL at 21 (terrible AHL team with not much help):
72311748

Benson in the AHL at 21 (much better AHL roster):

58134255
[TBODY] [/TBODY]
Rattie's 31 goals are much more impressive.

Rattie also crushed his WHL numbers. The only league Benson outperformed Rattie in was the AMBHL. Benson broke Rattie's records there. Anyways I've watched plenty of both outside of this season in bakersfield and I think they play quite alike.

Good on Edmonton for finally developing some home grown talent. Nice showing at the AHL level for him.
What you'd want, is another year of dominance, then to see if he's going to be a Tweener, an NHLer or impact NHLer the year after.

Still lots of room for him to see what he'll be at the NHL level.

Benson has missed a lot of development time and is further back on the development curve. We are quite happy with were he is.
Now I think there is a bridge missing a troll

I completely agree with @Del Preston. You have no idea what you're talking about. By the way, Benson turned 21 4 days ago.

And, regardless of how, a 78 point pace is better than a 56 point pace. And I refuse to believe that you watch Benson. He plays a completely different game than Rattie. Rattie shoots an grinds. Benson makes plays.

Players usually go first overall for a reason, hoping and expecting Mattheos to kill it next year among other WHL first overall bantam picks.

The Giants tried their best to ruin him. We have been handling his progress really well imo.
Benson is a fan favorite in Edmonton he was hyped before his bantam draft. Likely would have gotten exceptional status had he applied for it.

Oilers are actually really good at developing Canadian kids, we suck with non-english speaking euros.

They sure did! The Giants were horrible in those years, and kept bringing back Benson too early. He also had those freak injuries.

Ill be curious how long Edmonton lets him develop in AHL. Obviously the rest of this year he will but im curious what will happen next season

Ideally he starts in the A again but the oilers don’t have many better wingers than what he could offer
The team has been saying they want the young guys to over percolate in the AHL.
I feel like Benson and Marody will be pencilled into the AHL roster, Oilers will go try and fill the spots in the NHL roster and if a top 9 guy goes down, they are first call ups.

Rattie has way better numbers in the AHL and WHL than Benson ever had.

Re: the bolded- why would this be fantastic news for oil fans when benson was lauded as essentially a second first round pick and the heir apparent to McD's wing only 2 seasons ago? It's also not true. Dube is progressing at a much better rate than Benson.
Dube is leading his team in points?

Thats quite the statement. Please do explain.

Edit: I saw your explanation. I retract my request for your explanation because I just got infinitely dumber from reading it.

Cheering for the kid to become what he was hyped up as as a 15 year old and become McDavid’s left winger for the next decade.

Ya its cool to see him excelling this season. He had a rough go in junior with injuries and alot of people questioned whether he would ever become what he was hyped up to become. The amount of talk surrounding this kid before his WHL draft was INSANE... He was touted to become the next big thing to lace up the skates.

Love seeing this success in his first pro season

I don't think he'll be the elite top end talent he was touted to be before the many injuries, but he can certainly carve out a nice career playing the top 6. 20-25 goals and 50-55 points and I'll be happy honestly. Those numbers are very achievable for him imo.

That’s even a little optimistic. I’d be extactic if he became a 50 point player. If he even became a 30-40 point guy who can PK id be really happy.
