playing 7-14 minutes a game he tallied 3 goals in 5 NHL games...he averaged over 2 points a game in the WHL...and people are suggesting he's going to be a 40 point player as a rookie? WHY?! This is just typical Flames (Not a flames fan) hate which is making people oblivious to the FACT that they have one of the most exciting players that's not in the NHL. Hartley coaches an up tempo game and he'll probably utilize Bartschi in a way that he can put up lots of points (So on a line with the likes of an Iggy or Cammalleri) and the kid will hold his own. Watch Bartschi put up 60+ points in the up coming season.

So Calgary adds a 70 point winger....and finishes 13 places worse than this year, with pretty much the same team.

Interesting.

Well they're losing Jokinen aren't they? Iggy and Kipper are getting older and their skills should be diminishing, but you will have Cammalleri for the whole season with something to prove, Dennis Wideman bolstering the offense from the D which something they needed badly (Giordano can only do so much) and a healthy glencross and Moss... Just playing devils advocate. I'm one of those that think that under the right circumstances the Flames should be in the playoffs next year. If Kipper can get hot anything can happen...and oh yah add the super kid Sven Bartschi too.

Wideman is overrated. Most of his years are in the minus rating.

I would say the Flames are a better team in all areas this year except for Centers.

Stajan
Backlund
Cervenka

Feaster better pull off a miracle on July 1st or I don't see playoffs in our future.

Did i mention Wideman's defense, no i mentioned his offense which is what the flames need. Wideman paired with a calm cool guy like Bouwmeester will help both of them out, btw.

I'd say also 40-50 points....he is about the only player Flame fans can be excited about for the future....regardless, Calgary will finish once again out of the playoffs....their best players are aging and they have nothing else coming up so they better enjoy Bart.....

Jokinen can always come back? What's his deal anyways? I think the idea is to have Cammi play at center from what i hear. Anyways as a non-flames fan i think i'm more optimistic for your season than you are. I liked the Jankowski pick btw. People can laugh at it, but in a draft that wasn't "deep" taking a big swing on a potential homerun was the smart thing to do as opposed to trying to take a bunt and hope to get on first base with a single...these guys can be had in free agency every year.

Jokinen settled his family here and is on record as saying he loves playing for the Flames.

To me, this means he must be looking for more money than the Flames were offering. I am thinking Feaster would go as high as 4 Million. Jokinen is pretty much looking for a big retirement contract.

At his age though, I think it was probably term and money. He's young enough to swing a multi-year (2-3 year) contract, but not on a team that's slowly rebuilding like the Flames. We definitely could use him as he is a great player, but I can understand why the Flames didn't sign him considering his agents obvious wishes.

I think he starts out hot, like 10 pts in 15 games. Then the league catches up with him and he ends up with 18-24-42 pts in 72 games, misses some time with injury and might get benched for a few games in the middle of the season. This kids still a pup and he has 70 pt potential, I just hope most Flames fans don't expect it to happen in his first year.

P.S. Tarasenko is going to win the Calder with 28-34-62 pts and help the Blues reach the Western Conference Finals.

It bears repeating after hearing all the hilarious hype that Calgary gives to their less then stellar young players....you have one blue chip and that is Bart...enjoy him....you have nothing else coming up.....except 3rd line players and 4-6 defenseman....and nothing remotely to replace your most important player, Kipper.....ugly ugly future....which I find very amusing!

Most people have come around to the fact that Gaudreau is a promising prospect, regardless of his size. We'll see if Jankowski develops the same path. Meanwhile you have to trust that Flames fans are infinitely more knowledgeable of their own players than you are.

As an Oiler fan it pains me to say this but the kid is awesome. Watched lots of the WHL this year and he was far and away the best player. He has star written all over him. I think he will get ice time and pp time and can put up 55-60 points. My pick for rookie of the year (yes over Yak and Schultz). Great pick by the flames (unfortunately :) )

Other flames fans are awaiting to see a big move made by Feaster to change our team next season.. For me, we already have that player. baertschi.

This guy only played 5 games this season, but every single shift i focused on him. I also watched a lot of Winterhawk games this season. I'd say he has the highest hockey IQ on the team and has better net presence than Iggy in his prime days.

I feel like i'm overrating him quite a bit but he's practically the savior for this aging club. For his first season i expect something around 40-50 points, and eventually develop into the first line LW as a ppg player.
