I can actually see hime challenging for the Calder. But the rookie crop looks pretty god next year. Yakupov, Tarasenko, Kuznetsov, Silfverberg, Bartschi, Gormley, Huberdeau, Hamilton, Granlund, I think I'm forgetting a few.

I think his goal totals will be pretty good, maybe 20. I think his assists will depend on his minutes, pp time, and linemates. If he's not getting 1st unit pp time and only 3rd line minutes his assists could be as low as 15. If he's getting 1st unit pp time, he could get 25 assists.

I don't think his point totals will tell the kind of career he will have. I anticipate him making a ton of great plays next year that his linemates will fail to cash in on.

To compare, although Eberle ended up with one of the best point totals in the league last year (especially for minutes played) if he had cashed in on all the chances RNH gave him early in the season, he'd challenge for art ross and RNH would have run away with the calder, even with the injury. (It took Ebs 9 games to score his first goal, and in that span he should have had at least 10 goals from RNH open net chances)

Wouldn't be shocked at all if he scored 25 goals and had 55 points.

Yeah..I think there's gonna be a crowded race for the Calder next year. If Marc Foligno plays anything like he did at the end of the season with Ennis and Stafford, he should be in the running too. I could definitely see Bartschi being a final nominee though. He looked good in his emergency call-up. If he gets 2nd line and 2nd PP time, I think he could hit 50+ points.

That bodes well for Yakupov then. I'd take all the 1st overalls you listed over their counterpart Calder winner.

Jeff Skinner is better than Taylor Hall so no

I see Bartschi getting somewhere around 20-20-40 give or take of course.

It still boggles my mind why he dropped in the draft last year?

People are going a little crazy with these predictions, in my opinion, his limit is 50 points next season, no more than that, goals will vary, 15-25. He might get nominated for Calder but i really doubt he actually gets it. The only way I see him excel more than 50 points (Calder considerations) is if Tanguay/Cammalleri isn't working on the top line and he gets the bump if he impresses enough. If the kid is playing with Iginla, his totals will benefit greatly.

40-40-80pts...book it!

On a serious note, I could definitely see him reach 15 goals, but barely just misses 20goals, but he could also reach 20 so 15-22 sounds about right For assists, about the similar to goals, so about 20 to total 45-50 pts ish

I think he'll top out at 20 and 20. I think Yakupov will win Calder with the Oilers if they keep him up this season. Which I think they shouldn't, so they will.

There are alot of excellent prospects who will be debuting in the NHL this year. And I don't think the Flames will be placing Baertschi in the best position to rack up points. He'll be third line and play tough opposition. And it will be better for his development in the long run.

 Agreed.

I'd rather project reasonable numbers and if he does better than great for him. If he does worse, then it won't look so bad. Only two players in Calgary topped 50 points so projecting that is a bit heavy imo.

Different coach, with a much different style. Sutter killed offense, Hartley plans on playing a fast paced offensive system. People have this perception that the Flames are a grinding trap style team, not anymore. Also, Hartley is known to put talented rookies and young players in the top six with the big guns..

I see him at the very least, topping 36-40 points, at the most 55. Id be extremely happy either way.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him get 50pts, there's a lot of minutes available on that Calgary roster.

I think Eberle is a good comparable for his first season. Eberle played it without a real good centre and a crappy team overall, which, more or less, will be what Baertschi is jumping into. He's a fantastic prospect who will have some great years, but his final WHL season was around what Eberle's was like, and I expect him to have a similar first season.

That said, I set the roof for him at 45 points. He's good, but he's not Jesus.

Bartschi had 3 goals in his first and only 5 NHL games. Get your facts st8
Nikita Filatov had 4 goals in his first (and only, that year) 8 NHL games. 2 in 13 was his followup season.

Not that I seriously believe that Baertschi will be the next Filatov... but making such a prediction is about as valid and probable as assuming he'll get over 60 points. (To say nothing of 90! Good lord, folks.) The NHL is a tough place to play, y'know - and circumstances change as folks start paying more attention to you.

Just a question how Filatov look defensively in the nhl?
