As an Oiler fan it pains me to say this but the kid is awesome. Watched lots of the WHL this year and he was far and away the best player. He has star written all over him. I think he will get ice time and pp time and can put up 55-60 points. My pick for rookie of the year (yes over Yak and Schultz). Great pick by the flames (unfortunately :) )

I have to agree. I don't think very highly of the Flames prospect pool, but they have an absolute gem in Bartschi. That kid is going to be awesome for them. Hell of a pick. Wouldn't surprise me at all if he got 50-60 points as a rookie next season, barring injury of course.

He is always dangerous, very smart player, with speed and great hands to match.

Should be one of the best players of his draft year.

He is going to cost some scouts their jobs.

Ah CPers. Never change.

Apparently I am the only one who has ever overrated a prospect. Every year prospects are compared to greats of the past, but it seems that if someone posts the numbers, that makes then crazy. If someone just offhanded compares a kid to Yzerman, Sakic, Forsberg, or any other HoFer, no one bats an eye. Funny stuff.

Something tells me he is making glorious proclamations about Jankowski, so I wouldnt worry about it.

I would say the Flames are a better team in all areas this year except for Centers.

Stajan
Backlund
Cervenka

Feaster better pull off a miracle on July 1st or I don't see playoffs in our future.

Cammalleri is a centre now.

Cammalleri will play first line. The othre three will fight it out for 2nd and 3rd line positions and Jones is 4th. The lines are far from set in Calgary. The top line is likely to be Cammy, Iggy, and Tanguay. Then Hudler, Baertschi, Glencross, Backlund, Stajan, Cervenka, and Stempniak will fight it out for positions in the 2nd and 3rd lines. If 3-4 of those depth guys can pull of 40+ point seasons, the Flames will be in a very good position offensively.

He is just another Nillson/Cogliano/Gagner type

So about 40-50 points then downhill from there.

Haha i really didnt mean it in a way to make fun of you. Its just you're a legend on CP and it felt cool saying that. Otherwise i agree with your entire post, this site heavily overrates prospects.

No debate. Easily one of the stupider things I've said. I just think it's funny that the only reason the post is memorable is that it has numbers included. If I had said Schremp had Hull like potential or something, it would have been forgotten long ago.

Good to know my fame still lives on there. Perhaps I should sign up for an account sometime. ;)

No problem, I usually get at least a few questions about it from CPer in threads or PMs every year. I learned not to care long ago. Sure it was a stupid thing to say, but I have also been right on a bunch, and no one is correct on all prospects all the time. I am amazed that he hasn't changed his signature in almost 10 years though. I guess he really didn't like me calling him out for pretending not to be a Flames fan on HF

Anywho, back on topic. Bartschi is going to be a thorn in divisional opponents side for many a year. The Flames better hold on to that kid.
