I'm sorry it offends you that I have a different opinion than you.
But I just don't see anything that will translate well to the NHL.

Me too... Fluke that he scored 3 goals in 5 games coming from Jr. BUST!

We've heard your opinion. Now go away.

3 goals in 5? Nice.

I don't think he will do much. You will see this season.

Apparently all Flames prospects are going to follow the path of Fabian Brunnstrom.

Early success in the NHL? The only possible path to take after that is the one that Brunnstrom took.

Sven already put up 3 goals in 5 NHL games. 0.6 goals per game.
Nugent-Hopkins only put up 18 goals in 62 NHL games. 0.29 goals per game.

Sven is twice the player Nugent-Hopkins is. He's also infinitely better than Yakupov because Yakupov has 0 goals.

I'm sorry if it offends you that I have a different opinion than you, but I just don't see anything that will translate well for either Nugent-Hopkins or Yakupov at the NHL level.

:shakehead

Sven will likely earn some decent ice-time this year. The Flames are very high on him, and he did impress during his short stint last season. If he earns PP time, I don't think something along 20g/30a is out of line. I doubt he'll end up in Rookie of the Year talks though - Yakupov will get more ice-time and has more raw talent and will likely dominate all the chatter.

I think he has a chance to put up some decent numbers this year as long as he doesn't get hurt. I can see him starting the year on the third line but finding his way to the second and also spending a lot of time on the second power play unit. The thing about the NHL as everyone knows is, there are a lot of nonsense calls made at any given time, so he will get his chances. I also think Backlund staying healthy will help his cause because they had good chemistry in last years preseason. They're probably good buddies, watch Friends together and stuff.

If he puts up 60 pts next year, I would be more than impressed, but also not surprised. He's going to grow to be a darn fine hockey payer, I just hope nothing stymies his development.

What I have learned from this thread, Sven is a bust, Janko is a HUGE bust (wasted pick), and that every player that ever puts up 3 goals in his first 5 games is worse than Brunnstrom and should probably just give up. Also that even if we leave out Sven's 5 games and think he will be good based on him dominating the whl it doesn't matter because nothing he does like great 2-way and his hockey sense could translate to the nhl, the rest of the 29 teams saw this and are laughing to themselves that we picked Sven.

i'm very interested how he does, could go either way in my opinion, could win rookie of the year. could disappoint and be sent to the ahl.

He is a good prospect, but for all you saying that he will put up 70+ points is absolutely ridiculous! The last rookie to put up 75+ points is evgeni malkin in 2006-07! Do you guys honestly think that Baertschi is the player that Malikin was at 19?!?! And as for those comparing him to RNH, :help::shakehead I say that he will be in the top 5 for rookie scoring but he will not be a candidate!

I think some people mean for career highs, not next season.

Really?

Good speed, sweet hands? seems to have a pretty high hockey IQ. Lots of promise IMO.

Wow I'm a die-hard Oilers fan, and somehow I am defending a Flames prospect! :help:

This is the second post i have seen of a Provincial rival defending one of out prospects. Guess it definitely is 2012.

Or, skywalken is just being butthurt and spewing nonsense that everyone can't help but disagree with.

Baerstchi's a very dynamic player. He reminds me of Eberle a bit. Gonna be a great player, i'll predict 75 games 44 points. Then he progresses to 64 points as a 20yo.

My prediction:

Skywalken is nowhere to be found at season's end after Baertschi has a solid rookie year.

Funny how those types can spew all they want because they don't have to face the music.

Kind of like a coward... or exactly like one I guess.

What do people see out of this guy? 70 + point player in his prime? Similar point production to Patrick Sharp?

Might score 30 goals at some point, he's had an impressive showing in his first baby steps in the NHL kind of like D'Agostini who he reminds me of.
