Sudbury's roster isn't as good this year...he just wants to go to a better team for his last year in the OHL. As a Canadian, who has lived in Sudbury before...this has nothing to do with being a self-entitled American...Canadian players do this as well.
Sounds like it also plays into the criticism he got in Sharks camp for being all offense and not playing well away from the puck. Sudbury doesn’t sound like a good environment for Musty to improve on his deficiencies.

That is helpful to understand, thanks. Obviously Gushchin being 22, turning 23 in February, can help explain how he's ready to go, while Musty just turned 19.

Dickinson is like a ready made NHLer but I think there's an upside gap there with Musty.
I disagree on upside gap between the two. I think their upside is comparable (albeit different position), with Dickinson being more likely to be an impact player.

We are now half a dozen games into the OHL season and this guy is still holding out. Unbelievable. The entitlement of refusing to report to an OHL team where you are gonna be there for 3 months to 8 months max is a bit much. Unless the Sudbury management was pulling some Mike Babcock shit on him (which I doubt as he's their top player) this doesn't seem good.

Got to be honest, I was wrong that this would still be dragging on by now. Not a good look for Sudbury. Going to hurt the return they get and agents for future players will take note. But hey, guess they showed him? /s

It depends. If they are getting good offers and trying to hit a home run it's on them. If they aren't getting any decent offers there is nothing they can do.

Sudbury holds absolutely zero leverage here and are making themselves look awfully dumb

1. He’s clearly not reporting, every day/game that goes by decreases his trade value
2. More players will be unwilling to report to Sudbury as a result of this

Good for Sudbury. He is a talented player and the offers will come. Let him sit until the trade deadline if that is his choice , only hurts him. They will get a boatload at the deadline if not before if they are patient enough and it appears they will be. Right and wrong ways to go about a trade , this isn't the right way. Teams are still figuring out what they have at this point , probably by December things will start to clear. I would just come back and play some hockey for awhile if I was him.

So, he just doesn't want to be in Sudbury ? I assume he wants to go to a better location, like London, or something, or just wants out of Sudbury ?

If Sudbury lets Musty sit out for three months, they've tanked his value. If an offer was coming that they were willing to accept already was on the table, they'd have taken it. Offers are only going to be worse as this goes on. This feels spiteful.

Lose-lose-lose for Musty, Sudbury, and the Sharks.

There's an unspoken rule in the CHL that as a GM you don't play chicken with players that ask for trades. You move them and move on. No one's ever won by being willfully difficult about the request.
