Well, Laine and Connor together will be absolutely disgusting

Scheif in the middle and that is a recipe for a LOT of goals.

Honestly now i'm just hoping the Leafs do take Matthews. Probably a bad thing but I've got my mind set on Laine.

The best part is that I've probably paid the most attention to him out of everyone in this draft. Still can't believe it.

****ing disgusting result for both Finns. Couldn't care less about either of those teams.
Great selfish reasons you have. This order is almost ideal, they'll both avoid Edmonton and their proven bad track record of handling prospects, and Toronto, latter one being a much better organisation but not a great place due media attention.

So.... better future linemate in terms of fit: Ehlers or Connor?

I think Ehlers with Laine. Ehlers is actually a very good playmaker with terrific vision. Timo Meier had 44 goals as a 17-year old playing with Ehlers.

Connor can play with Wheeler, who has absolutely elite speed and is a very good playmaker. Connor is a deadly sniper.

Jets top-6 forwards... Ehlers, Scheifele, Wheeler, Connor, Laine, Little.

Okay...

Not sure they'll play much together. They're both LW's first but looks like Laine can play RW. Think Ehlers can play both sides as well but can't quite remember so that's two that can play either side for sure. Either way, our wingers could look freakin sick as hell now.

This ^^ they were THNs prediction for the 2019 cup before adding Connor and Laine to the mix

...also before Scheifele became a beast at C.

That was also before they added Armia, Dano and Lemieux.

Jets forwards, 23 and under....

Scheifele, Ehlers, Laine, Connor, Dano, Petan, Lemieux, Armia....

Ehlers played a lot of RW in junior (setting the table for LW Meier), and earlier this past season. I think Connor can play both sides.

C doesn't look too bad either. Scheifele has emerged into a legit #1 C, Little is a very good 1a or #2 C, and the Jets have Perreault, Lowry and Petan that can slot in at #3.

Wow, Edmonton - Calgary - Winnipeg is going to be a circle of death for opposing teams pretty soon. Vancouver falls a little short ;)

The Jets have a great record of taking care of Finns and turning them into stars...

Selanne and Numminen were great in Winnipeg, and loved playing there. Armia is now emerging as a bona fide NHLer in Winnipeg.

Laine will be fantastic in Wpg, and he'll love playing there.

I wanted Laine badly but I'm happy (for now, I'll probs be mad 5 yrs down the road) that he landed in Winnipeg. They got their Finnish star winger again.

It'll be fun watching the Oilers and Jets square off outdoors this year.

I wasn't the one "disappointed", but on the other hand what a different organization and even different de facto franchise did two decades ago has little relevant to the current one.

Same hockey culture. Even better organizational ethos.

I'm really happy with Winnipeg landing Laine. Him and Conner flanking any center will produce a tonne.

As a Leafs fan this lotto really was a perfect outcome....2019 Stanley Cup Finals date?

Another huge skilled player going to be playing in Winnipeg.

Building a championship team right, imo. Teams are going to hate playing them.

Laine 6'4"
Armia 6'3"
Scheifele 6'3"
Lowry 6'5"
Wheeler 6'5"
Myers 6'8"
Byfuglien 6'5"
Trouba 6'3"

yiiiiikes, I'm jealous. Plus Little, Ehlers, Connor, Petan etc

Then I don't wonder why they have been a "rebuilding team" for the last 20 years.

I don't think the gap between the two is big. Both have franchise players potential

I would pick Matthews over Laine. Laine is good and all but we still can't tell what he will do in the NHL
