Finnish goal scorer rookie in Winnipeg.

Wow, I understand this is a highlight reel but does he ever have great vision/awareness. He just knows where to be on the ice before anyone else. His reflexes are amazing too, I swear he's already winding up for rebounds before they make it to him.

His strength as well :amazed:, you'd never know he's an 18 year old out there. Really strong on his skates and looks like he threw a few really strong hits there as well, I dunno if that's a regular thing for him so maybe someone can chime in on that.

I wouldnt even be mad if we draft Laine at #1.

The way how he took that interview on HNIC lying down was BOSS.

The Jets have a great record of taking care of Finns and turning them into stars...

Selanne and Numminen were great in Winnipeg, and loved playing there. Armia is now emerging as a bona fide NHLer in Winnipeg.

Laine will be fantastic in Wpg, and he'll love playing there.

Yes 25 years ago. That's just silly to even bring up.

When the Jets were named to be picking #2 in this draft. I automatically thought Laine. But reality is, they may also have Puljujarvi.

Leafs could surprise and pick Laine. Nothing would surprise me.

But it is fitting. With Selanne's great history with the Jets. They could have another one here. Would be a great story. Fitting!

I don't want anyone saying I am comparing him to Mario Lemieux, as I am not. But how he gets behind Defence's and how he finds the open space on his off wing reminds me of the way Mario used to find those soft spots on the ice. I used Brett Hull as an example earlier in the thread. Has a way of finding the open soft spot on the ice where he is unchecked. Atleast for this innate skill, it seems Laine has this too. We shall see if he can carry this to the NHL one day. Where checking is tighter than ever. But he sure looks like a special player in the making.

I love how he takes the body!!

Honestly as a Wild fan, Laine to the Jets makes me way more nervous than Matthews to the Jets would.

Man, watching the highlights the guys wrister is INSANE, also that one timer. Can certainly see the Ovi comparisons in that regard.

Too bad Laine won't go first overall, but the great thing is that Lou and Babcock won't get a chance to ruin his career by keeping him at minors at all costs. I don't care for Edmonton, but would have been nice to see Laine play with McDavid, but at least he gets a chance to play in Winnipeg from the start.

Winnipeg gets to draft a Finnish scoring winger. Has this happened before?

The guy's a beast and I can't wait to see him in the NHL.
