He parties on the ice instead.

Interesting. I mean, does this mean he is locked for the final team... I got the impression KJ might announce that team after FIN-USA game on tuesday. So I guess Laine has 1 game to play before the selections are made. He should be in anyways.

I don't think Laine has to prove anything anymore. I just hope he is with Barkov. The third link can be Jokinen, Mikael Granlund or Aho. All should work.

Final team is annouced in sunday or monday. USA games.dont effect rosters anymore. They are played with final team.

So yes Laine is locked.

Laine's GF also plays hockey and they met on a hockey camp of some sorts.

How many NHL players have wifes/gfs who actually play hockey ? I've never heard of anything other than models, actresses etc. :D

Imagine if their relationship lasts and Laine becomes this big NHL star, their kid would have some real hockey genes

I can already imagine when im like 60 years old and my grandkids idol is the next generation Laine. Then i can say "i remember when his dad played hockey, he was pretty good, i even posted on HFBoards how he would be a star when he was 16, good times". :biglaugh:

In Finland there is teenage girls crying and getting into hockey because of Aho and Puljujärvi. But because of Laine, there is grown men crying for joy. Especially in Tampere.

Well put. Aho and Pulju are these dreamy young guys all teenage girls have a crush on.

Laine makes grown men cry.

Yeah, Jalonen confirms. Laine is in. Good deal. He's been trying to get a hold on another 3 finalist players, but refused to give names. Kuusela, Ramsted and who?

In some weird way i would hope Aleksi Elorinne.

No way in hell. I was watching the games and wondering why he wasn't playing as well as last season.

YLE speculated that the other players would be Husso, Lajunen and Kuusela.

Kuusela, Lajunen, Husso. And it's not simply a guess.

Why he has to cut hair if he is a leaf?

Think when he matures a bit and fills up adding muscle: 6'4 220-2230 pounds long blonde haired, bearded monster power forward-sniper. Thats a reason not to cut it. Could be the guy from Vikings tv series.

Laine is actually not confirmed yet to make the team. He's simply among those four Liiga finalists who are still in Jalonen's papers.

Listen here.

Though... I guess now that this much is out, it'd take a ton of guts from Jalonen to dangle him in front of us like this and then pull the candy away.

Kuusela, Lajunen, Husso. And it's not simply a guess.

Very good choices from the finalists. Ramstedt was of course magnificent, but I very much doubt that he would have anyway had any chances to be the center in the 1st or 2nd line, and absolutely no use to use him in the 3rd or 4th line. Barkov and either of Granlund's brothers are most probably the centers of the two first lines, so no chance for Ramstedt there.

With Husso I could maybe think twice, as in my opinion Karhunen was even the better goalie in the most decisive games. Both were very good though, and Husso was steadier through the whole playoffs. I just happen to believe more in players that play extremely well at the right moments than players who are steady all the time, but don't pick it up a notch in the biggest games. But Husso still an acceptable choice for me anyways.

Kuusela should be at least tested, after the magnificent season that he had. And I think that there might be still more options for him to play as he is a quite speedy and experienced winger. Although I have a feeling that he will probably not fit in the final team after all.

Lajunen is really a no brainer. He is strong, fast, exprienced and a real winner. Last year's SHL champion, this year's FEL champion and 2011 world champion. He should fit perfectly in any role in the 3rd or 4th line.

Laine should be a definite lock for first two lines and power play. If Koojii will not pick him for the final team and will not give him also a big role, he is really as stiff and limitedly thinking person as I have seen him so far. I can only hope for the best...

I'm not sure but I think I saw somewhere a bit earlier that it might be on Tuesday that we get the announcement. That most likely means some time after USA game and it would only make sense.

Sounds like Finnish hockey He-man to me.

I talked with several Tappara players last night and they said "Laine is at home preparing for WHC".

But yeah you never know for certain until it's official.

Woo!! That's awesome.

Hopefully he spends some time off the ice hanging out with Connor McDavid in between games, future linemates for the next 15 years :yo:

That's great news. And based on the merits of his play, he deserves a chance against a much higher level of competition.

I would love to see Puljujarvi-Laine centered by Barkov or Koivu. Have Rantanen there also would be a blast to see.

I'd really want Pulju as well but it seems very unlikely he'll play at the WHC.

Rantanen is in the final squad for sure.

Koivu 50% chance or something is my feeling about it. We'll know latest tomorrow if Koivu and Mikael Granlund are coming.

The result seems about the same what is was at jatkoaika.com (80-20). Tho the sample size is much bigger there.

I don't know if the tv-cameras picked KJ's face with mount open and shaking his head after Laines goal but they showed in on the mediacube. It was pure gold :D

Making it a slam dunk for my favourite prospect in the draft :yo:

His one timer reminds me so much of Kurri it's ridiculous.

That last goal he scored for the Championship is identical to the Gretzky to Kurri one timers we used to see when they were on 2 on 1's. Kurri driving down the left side, 99 feeding him a perfect pass for the one timer.
