He had a monster game, especially that first period. The hands, shot and IQ are there, he just needs to work on his physique and skating to become a true superstar.

Honestly not even in my wildest dreams did I imagine Laine getting the playoff MVP award. I knew Tappara was going far, but I didn't expect Laine to be this good. I don't even care who goes 1st, Laine is so good that you just want to enjoy watching him.

i don't really care if Laine gets picked as number 1, 2 or 3... or 15.

What I noticed today, prior to the decisive FEL final... was Patrik smiling and looking rather relaxed before the game started.

And then, in the 1st period, it was a Laine show. This dude does not collapse under the pressure, quite the opposite.

He still needs to develop his defensive game and skating to make the real impact in NHL. And at times, he still surfs on the ice. Having said that, the guy is a lethal gun in the offence. Both in terms of finishing and setting up a team mate.

Sick n tired of people calling bias every time this kid is cheered here.

No worries mate. I am Canadian, and I was accused of being biased yesterday for liking the 2 Finns. You are certainly not alone on that comment. ;) But it is a nonsensical argument.

Really I don't know why anyone would use that angle. Unless you have been living on planet Pluto. It would be a great oversight to undersell Laine or Puljujarvi based on the merit of their play this year.

Sure if you like low scoring clutch and grab hockey with piss poor officiating to top it off.

Clutch and grab isn't really common in the NHL anymore. There's interference, but not so much that kind. Either way, Laine going to the Oilers wouldn't change that or anything else that might be wrong with the league.

This kid is special, wow.

Another summer or two improving his first few strides and there really is no limit to what he could do

Thanks

It just seems weird, it almost like a spotlight on the player.

Some don't think the gold helmet is a good idea because it's easier for opponent teams' players to focus shutting down these players or possibly injuring them in a playoff series. Maybe that's 1 more reason you don't see astronomical numbers in points made by the top point makers of FEL.

It's good for the spectators, bad for the top point makers in the games.

I feel it's a cool tradition we have going on here. Besides, does anyone honestly think that opposing teams wouldn't know who the most dangerous guys on the ice are. Coaches and players are fully aware of that, they don't need a golden helmet to spot the top scorers.

Back on topic: Laine is the first Finn in so many years that we can legitimately hope to break fourty goals per season in the NHL. 50 goal season are so rare these days but even still, I believe Laine has a chance at achieving even that along the line.

He looks like a bust

Gotta agree with this fine gentleman.

Boy oh boy you made me laugh, thanks :D.

I think that the team he goes to gets a player that has an ability to create the winning culture. Edmonton, Toronto... This guy is a clutch. I think every better than average center in NHL will be at least a good fit with Laine. No need to think who would fit better, Marner or McJesus.

Laine is Capitals fan due Ovechkin.

This is 100% accurate.

I thought this too. I think i've heard him saying he is caps fan so this made me little bit confused. Maybe he ment Connor McDavid and oilers with his time square thing.

You can support many NHL teams. Though that Rangers comment was more like where he would like to play (if he had to pick one). He isn't afraid of the big lights.
