Laine wins Jari Kurri award few days after turning 18. I'd guess most of our NA friends have no idea how special that is. That said, maybe we don't either. Just doesn't happen. The kid is pure gold. Now go get the triple in the WC. Can't f*** wait. He's having a draft year of a century.
 
Congrats Laine! What a finish, Liiga champion, playoffs MVP and scoring in the final game.

I honestly haven't seen Matthews play enough to have an opinion between the two, hence I'm waiting for the WHC's to see them face off. Still, just watching Laine in these playoffs I can see why he is viewed as a one-dimentional (or, at least not multi-dimentional) at this level, his playmaking ability isn't quite as elite as his goal-scoring and he isn't trusted in the toughest defensive situations. Of course he will improve but it hardly seems a surprise many/most teams will prefer a highly talented two-way center.
 
Patrik Laine wins the equal of Conn Smythe award in FEL, formally known as Jari Kurri Award. Best player of the playoffs.

Only two 18 year old has won it.
 
I beg for someone to upload all this, seriously I'm so mad I wasn't able to watch the ending of the game I would've loved seeing him receive Kurris award
 
I love this kid. Fantastic player. If Edmonton gets the 1st overall, draft him and play him with McDavid..
 
Sick n tired of people calling bias every time this kid is cheered here.

He scores the tying goal, his team wins the championship, and he is named the playoff MVP. Top-seeded HIFK is eliminated in six games; each time HIFK was up in the series, Laine followed up with a huge performance.



What a day for Patrik Laine.

The damage that Laine and McDavid could do together could actually make the NHL game exciting again. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I would take him first overall without thinking twice.
