The earlier draft rankings and NA posters here seems to affect peoples judgement, and the fear of seeming like a finnish homer plus the fact that no finnish prospect every has been that impressive at that age.

Honestly for the upcoming draft it´s LAINE AINEC.

Pick for second is where the battle is.
 
IFK is taking so many risks with their defenders, while Kuusela and Laine came to play today. What a period that was!
 
Teppo Numminen in the interview: He is getting more confidence game by game, play by play. He doen't yet know how good he is.

It was as smooth as you can hope when they showed the replay. He was pretty close to a goalie tho.
 
Add Teppo Numminen to the list of people who have compared him to Mario.

Technically, Numminen was actually answering to a question of who Laine reminds him of.

Haha I know, I keep expecting him to slow down in performance and get into a cold streak or something so that I don't have to hype him up more.. instead he goes even crazier :laugh:

Was about to write this. Landed flat without bounce and to tape. But defender was pretty close so Kuusela had to drag it right away to protect it and get rid of him (as he did). Then it went pretty close but definitely Grade AAA chance there, could've gone upstairs still from there, tried 5 hole backhand.
 
So we are having best goal scorer Lehkonen from Sweden and Laine from Finland with Barkov. Good luck for other teams to World Championships. :sarcasm:
 
I dont remember seeing anything like that in Fel finals.
18yr old is handsdown dominating in all aspects and championship is on the line.

Okay, I thought it bounced a bit, maybe I saw incorrectly, would be cool to see replay

Edit: Ye it didn't bounce, Kuusela just took it on weirdly, cause the defender was pretty close
 
The only teams I see possibly taking him #1 overall would be EDM, BUF and maybe CGY because they are already set down the middle with young building blocks.

Thankss, just what I asked =) What a period! Thinking it could be the championship winning game. Very important game nonetheless.

Few good plays in 2nd too, but two shifts were very long and icings+long distance shifting got that line bit exhausted from those situations, didin't get to play as much offensive game this time around. Waiting for 3rd.

I would add TOR to the mix as well, because all the Stammer rumors. Would not be shocked if they picked Laine #1

It really depends on to what degree TOR thinks they are going to get Stamkos. If they have strong convictions, they might just be better going with Laine.
 
Laine is #1 overall pick. Yeah center vs winger yada yada... The truth is any team that picks Matthews over Laine is going to look back few years from now and regret it massively, because Laine is a tier above Matthews and Matthews is in his own tier as well alone, just second tier.

I have never seen 17-18 year old kid this good. 1 point away from Mikael Granlunds FEL playoff rookie record 16 points and Laine is 2 years younger I think? Plus the fact that Tappara's coach has played Laine in the wrong line for most of the games and not given him as much PP time as he should.
 
Finnish posters seem to forget how good Matthews is. As far as I know Matthews is very balanced player who was able to produce at high ppg level In Swiss league. Laine had many off-games in regular season. Laine was kind of non-factor in those games. Yes he is producing at the moment in playoffs with the MVP of Finnish league Kuusela but he was not consistent in regular season. As far as I know Matthews was more often the best player in games this season. I would like to know more from posters who have seen Matthews play.

And you talk that Matthews cannot produce in playoffs. Well Matthews scored 3 points in the 4 games he played. Laine scored 1 point in the first 4 playoff games he played. Matthews did not get to show his skills in the playoffs because his team sucked. It is just pathetic that some finnish posters downplay Matthews because of Laine`s good play in playoffs.
 
I think one thing we've seen is that Laine can carry a line, he can carry a team, he's a game changing prospect.
How does that change the way GM's look at them and this C vs W battle?

Also I dont get how some still say Matthews AINEC or NLA is the better league, but on the other hand still we shouldn't be saying Laine AINEC or something similar.
