People think he will outscore the whole league in his 1st year? Get real.

20 goals as a rookie is massive. 15 would be ok.
 
I would find it odd if his shot wouldn't get any deadlier considering how much he is still behind in strength and everything. That's why some people are so hyped about him, he is only going to become better, we've barely seen his final form in any area.

People say Puljujärvi is the most raw top prospect of this draft but considering how much Laine was able to improve in just one year, I'd say he also is very raw compared to very mature prospects in recent years (Barkov, Ekblad, Matthews).

We all know it's not a guarantee when it comes to young prospects succeeding in their first year in the big league but I'd still remind Laine is no typical #2 prospect when it comes to scoring goals, he is described the best in that area since Ovechkin. People who have seen him in the practice doesn't just praise the power of his shot but the way how he is able to find the open corners. Laine also has that ability to shoot even when the pass is crap whereas other players just have to take control of the puck and look for other options, Laine is able to make a shot. I think that's the deal breaker.
 
I'm not putting any huge expectations on him his first year. I think 20 goals is what we should set as a reasonable benchmark as a very good rookie season. Anything more would be impressive. I'm not going to even talk about 50 goals until he proves that he is at the doorstep. I mean we were so impressed with Sheifele last year and he lead the team with 29 in his 5+draft year.

Winter’s cold, but I’m used to it in Finland, so it doesn’t bother me. I’ve heard that it’s not a big city, but it’s a nice one, and I’ve heard they have the best home crowd in the NHL. And they have many younger players there.

Yeah I've seen those comment sections on IL and mostly on IS are really harsh to Laine. Many Finns really hopes that he fails..
 
I am very much looking forward to him coming to play in the NHL. Hoping he scores in bunches !!! I like this kid, please send us more :)

I saw it in Toronto when Anton Stralman was called the next Lidstrom. He didn't become that player, got mocked mercilessly and took a long time to get his game going.

That might have something to do with the fact that he's human pond scum and has no place playing our game at all, nevermind in the top league in the world. Anton Stralman can eat a duffle bag of phalluses.

Finnish tabloids like IS and IL, that are by the way owned by same corboration, went on to overhype Laine from the WJC onwards and the hype went to like that Laine should be drafted first in the draft... Those tabloids never mentioned much about Matthews and kept on hyping Laine. At some point some jerks probably took the overhype too seriously and are reacting to the hype by slaggin him of.
And eventually that was the result that the tabloids wanted to cause and the next thing is that tabloids are claiming, that finnish people are jealous about the money that Laine is going to earn and that if somebody criticizes the way the corboration acts, that is too because people are jealous about the money for the corboration owners.

We have seen this zillion times before. Nothing new really.
 
People are getting sick of hearing about Laine's dinosaurs or bread or hairstyle. It is uncertain if he will be NHL ready and some are expecting 40 goals. Myself I am confident he will be some day 40g scorer but not on his rookie season
 
Do Jets play rookie tournaments with other teams? If they do, can't wait to see Laine with Connor, Roslovic, Spacek, Morrisey, in game action.

Yes.. September 16-19 in Penticton BC there is a annual young stars tourny and it involves Flames, Jets , Nucks, Oilers

I happened to be in town for one of them a few years back and it's entertaining as hell to watch

Edit: Laine is in the World Cup during those dates. Guess we will see him in the bigger format then.

Laine will be with Finland, I think. Not sure if the college guys like Roslovic and Foley will participate. I think not. Morrissey is probably too far developed. This year will be less interesting than most for those wanting to see the Jets prospects.
