The entire team looked gassed, just need a couple days rest I think.

11 games in the last 17 days. 2 of the 6 days off were actually travel days because they had to fly out of Denver where it's over an hour just to get to the airport. So twice they went into Colorado on the second half of a back to back, travel out the next day then played an afternoon game with no practice or skate in 4 days.

In fact Aho was the most important player in that line. He had more points than Laine and scored extremely crucial goals as well. And most importantly he was the defensive force in that line which gave Laine and Pulju much more space to play the great offensive style that they did so efficiently. And still Aho managed to be also a key player offensively. Each of them were definitely very important but if any one of those three had to be chosen as the most important player, I would claim that it was Aho.

I would probably go with Aho too. I think Laine and Pulju were actually pretty close in overall impact. That whole line was just dynamite and one could make case for everyone in that line. For me, maybe Aho slightly goes over the two youngsters.

Laine had two pretty bad games in a row. Nice dekes on the shootout though.

A couple of stickhandles, drive to the backhand side and make the goalie think you'll roof it, instead bring it back to the forehand and 5-hole it. It doesn't really matter that much, but here is an example of him executing it anyway.

Another SO goal with similar idea and execution:

Here's hoping PoMo moves Ehlers back with Laine and Scheifele for the next game.

Yes i hope this too. Ehlers is like Aho in with Laine, if i had to choose Scheifele and Ehlers, i put Ehlers in Laine's line and other centered to them. But those 3 are beauty when they are same time in the ice.

Agreed. Also I don't like having Buff and Laine on the same PP unit

Same here. Ehlers has a great shot himself but he’s settling into that playmaker role really well, he’s so fast and can just do everything at full speed.

When Little, Perreault, Stafford, Armia and Matthias come back I’d like to see
Laine – Scheifele – Ehlers
Dano – Little – Wheeler
Connor – Perreault – Stafford
Matthias – Lowry – Armia

I’d like to keep Copp and Petan up with the Jets as well too, but there just isn’t room. I can see Stafford moved at the deadline even if they are in a playoff spot.

Buff is takibg so many shots that should be feeds to Laine. The guy is still looking for his first goal tho so maybe abit of frustration on his part.

I disagree. NHL teams fear Buffs 1 timer and will always try to take away that shot, but they can’t do that and take away Laine’s shot as well. It’s impossible to cover both.

He's saying Buff is taking way too many shots he should be dishing to Laine though, which I agree with. Last few games I have watched Laine sit in his "office" wide open for the one timer, and Buff will half-ass throw a puck on net.

If Jets only had a better D to play there, now when Trouba sits out, oh wait...

Morrissey has been the only guy to give him good passes. He's a leftie so there's that.

Haven't seen him blast a proper one timer yet. I think the only one that I've seen went off the post against Calgary in the preseason.

Theres 12! simply outstanding Laine well played! Still missing a proper one timer, breakaway deke goal and a backhand (i've heard thats the only real weakness on his shot arsenal, any truth to that ? Hyvää Legenda!

I don't think no one expected Laine to be great in overall play in his rookie season but as far as I'm concerned, he has being solid. It's a nice bonus on top of him still leading the league in goals and playing at nearly PPG rate.

Completely agree, As soon as you estimate how well he will play he just raises his game! He is an very good learner. Hey Nice youtube channel you got, I like it alot! :handclap:

I wanted to stop by and give my respects to Hokinaittii for his youtube channel.
Lots of great videos and thanks alot for the great work! :handclap:

ps. I watched the jets game and overall Laine was pretty solid. A few give aways and a few take aways.

I'd also like to give you props on your youtube channel Hoki. It's very impressive

I agree with the posters above, a really great channel! I don't even need to watch the games anymore because you have everything interesting in your channel from Finns perspective.

Said it before the draft. Laine will be best player in his draft year. Hes huge, amazing release and possesses a bloodhound nose for the puck. Hes going to get stronger. Maybe not faster but does he really need it? Kids smart.

Yes you can tell he has a weak backhand. He avoids trying to use it and his backhand passes can be pretty weak.

I want him to be more aggressive. When he starts getting physical, finishing his checks, forechecks hard and stays up in the play more rather than peeling back to play defence he is a much better offensive player. I do understand that it has been drilled into him for some time to be responsible he is a very strong and physically imposing player and can cause a lot of turnovers when he's aggressive on the puck.

His backhand saucer passes are pretty neat and effective, but I don't think I have ever seen him to shoot a backhand. If that's his weakness, he should definitely iron it out, since occasionally he could bury goal or too with that too.

He got a goal which is nice, and he had some good shifts, but there were some bad shifts as well.
1. Many times tries to take it out of the zone himself and fails.
2. Bad long passes resulting in turnovers.
3. Just invisible out there at times.

Started to see him play a lot more confident a few games ago, but last few games he hasn't been playing like that. That being said, even with him not playing to his full potential he's getting his chances.
